Hello,
we are flying American and I was wondering if my small baggallini mess. bag will count as my personal item. Any one have any experience with this? I looked it up on the site and it says a purse or small bag not to exceed 35 linear inches? how do I figure that out? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I don't want to get there with my baggallini and my carryon and only be able to take one. Tia.

i'm not 100%, but i think it's just a matter of adding up the height, length and width

basically, a personal item is something that's meant to fit under the seat in front of you as opposed to a carryon which goes overhead. squishiness definitely counts for both.

purses are typical personal items, as are camera bags and laptop bags

Thanks, it would definately fit under the seat in front. It is about the same size as a camcorder bag.

The bag is fine. And yes, linear inches equals heighth plus width plus depth.

Have a great trip! You picked a nice airline!
