Does anyone know if there is a limit to how much luggage
you can "carry on" the ship? Do they count camera bags and backpacks as carry on? We leave for Florida this Friday and sail Sat. I'm having a heck of a time packing all this stuff. If any of you have any suggestions, please let me hear from you. Thanks so much.

We had a bag each to carry on but would have been comfortable taking a backpack and a carry on suitcase. Just remember that you will be stuck with the stuff until 1:30 when they let you go to your room - the floors are blocked off until then to let the ship prepare the rooms for you.

Next time I'd bring MUCH LESS in my tote bag. It was a major pain dragging that bag around the buffet and the pool area. Know what I used out of that bag? Only my camera.

Next time EVERYTHING ELSE can go straight to the room.

I got a beach tote, and put the camera bag and some other little bags in that, so it was only one bag. It was also easier to carry a single tote instead of a bunch of little bags with straps.

As far as a limit, it's whatever you're willing to lug around!

One of the first things we've always done was drop off our bags in the room when we first get on board (and we arrive at the port before 11am). They don't have any problem letting ditch your stuff in your room. THey do have a problem if you want to close your door (because they are still working).

Be sure to keep your camera with you. You never know when you will want to take a picture.

Morgid,
We are also flying in Friday 3/5 and cruising Sat 3/6! Are you on the magic 7 night? If so, there is a great group of DIS-ers going! Stop in and say hi on the Cruise Meets thread for our cruise!
Have a Magical Trip!

Thanks to all of you for your replies. TarraLee, yes I am on the 7 day Magic and I am so excited aren't you!!! I appreciate your invite and wish you a magical cruise! To the rest of you experts, please feel free to add any other packing suggestions, I know, I know, put half of it back, I'm just too afraid I might need something, I like to make sure I have EVERYTHING I might need.

jrabbit --

We wanted to do just what you suggested: drop off our bags in our room. But we weren't allowed to do so. They had big ropes prevented people from going down the "residential halls" and CMS wouldn't allow us to go anywhere except Deck 9. I specifically asked to be allowed to drop off my bag, and I was told no.

I've read that others have been able to drop stuff off, but apparently it's not always possible. Therefore, my advice is DON'T CARRY ON ANYTHING YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO TOTE FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR OR SO.
