Can I put a bottle of Excedrin in my carry on? What about a pill box for my daily prescribed pills ... can that go in carry on also?

Yes to both. It's only liquids over 100ml (~ 3.4 oz) that have to go in checked luggage. You should always carry prescription medications with you, in the event that you have flight delays, or your checked luggage is delayed or lost.

Is it a problem to carry prescription pills in a pill box and not in their original labeled prescription bottles? I love the 7-day pill boxes but always carry the pills in their original pharmacy bottles because I think this is required...

Only required when traveling outside the US. Inside there is no customs screening, just TSA, and they could care less if you've got a pill box full of meds--unless of course you've got 2000 tabs of Vicodin in a baggie--then you've got some splainin' to do.
