We are traveling on Airtran with a non-stop 2 1/2 hour flight. Our flight is at 11:30 so even with my small airport I would like to be there at 10:30. Past security they only have an expensive and kind of nasty sandwich shop, you know the ones that are wrapped in plastic and probably made the night before etc. I was wondering if we grabbed Subway sandwiches before going to the airport will we be able to take them through security? I know no drinks, just the sandwich and maybe chips. Are condiments ok already on the sandwich?

We always do this and have never had any problems on Airtran, Delta and DirectAir. I usually pack sandwiches, chips and sometimes cookies. You should be fine!

Thanks, I figure it's worth the risk. What's the worse that can happen? They have me throw away our $5 sandwich to buy a gross $8? ;)

I'm excited about non-stop. Normally eat on lay over because don't want to waste time once we get to airport.

Will be busy morning. DD has district choir audition at 9:15 In opposit direction! So looks like leave school hopefully at 9:30 to drive home 20 minutes. Pick up luggage and one last bye to grams and dog. Leave house in ten minutes (10am) to stop by Subway and head 20 minutes to airport. :scared1: hmmm... Wonder which step will blow up? ;)

Hopefully won't be as bad as one trip on way to pick up DD at school I get a call she is complaining of an earache. Try to quickly stop at Walmart to get something and car doesn't start. Luckily friends husband was close and ran us to airport with plenty of time. That was an awful feeling when the car didn't turn over.

Yup, you can definitely pack a ready-made lunch, minus drink. Stuff like fruit cups, soup, etc obviously could not be brought on, but a sandwich or a salad (pre-dressed or in a labeled package that you could put in your 311 bag) would be fine.

Actually that's what we're planning on doing, going to get a fruit salad precut from the supermarket, and probably a sandwich & some crackers.

Also, avoid PB&J because of possible peanut allergies - if you're sitting in the row next to someone with an allergy they really can have a reaction just from smelling peanut butter.

Yeah I'm thinking subway and chips. One here in town not to far from me, of course are you ever very far from one anymore? :lmao: I'll buy an over priced drink from the sandwich stand on 'the other side.' either eat while waiting to board or give us something to do on flight.

Just not enough time before and long time from when we have to eat breakfast to landing in Orlando. Besides DD will probably be too Nervous about the audition to eat. Once we land I'm not eating at MCO! :thumbsup2

I'm a worrywart, so I'm thinking that you're pushing it a little too close (getting to the airport a hour ahead of time). There's too many variables that can go wrong. The audition could last more than 15 minutes. You could run into traffic. You could get behind someone at Subway who is ordering for the entire workplace. You could be selected for secondary screening at the airport (get some TSA agent who does not you you can carry in Subway).

If I were you, I'd pick up Subway the night before. That way, you can store it in your refrigerator until I'm ready to go. That will probably cut ten minutes on your trip.

I'm not worried. That's the great thing about small airports. You are actually fine with 30 minutes so the hour is almost over kill here. Even smaller town Subway but if there is a problem the. We will skip it and buy the over priced yucky ones at the small shop in the terminal. Generally at this airport it is about 15 minutes from parking lot to being through security checkpoint. I mean there is no more than 10 gates total. That's why I love it, so easy. Only draw back is there is only the nasty counter past security.

I picked up Subway on my way to the airport in May. Got thru security with no problems with the sandwich in my bag (it had mayo on it)
