I have tried to use the search function for this question but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be working for me (user error obviously) ..

Could someone tell me if I have to give my bags over for 'checking in' or can I carry them on? They won't be big bags as we travel lightly but my DBF and I will have one each (weekender bags).

Thoughts? Thanks alot

You'll check them in if you want, then they're delivered to your room. You could keep a tiny bag with you (medicine, documents, cash, swimsuit if you want to swim early, wine). I don't think you're required to check them through, but I don't want to even have my little rolling carry on with me during lunch. Just a small bag (and our wine!).
How fun to go on a cruise with your DBF! My DH and I are anticipating our first ever cruise! What lucky kids we have.

OMG, you're going in a week or so .. I'm so jealous!!

The reason I wanted to take my bag with me is for the very reason you take your small bag ... alcohol!! I kinda thought that if I only had a small bag, it wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the advice .. I'll have a word with the man and see what he thinks.

Have a great time on your cruise and please come back and tell us all about it. :yay:

Thanks!

Both my kids are sick right now, so I'm 1) nervous but glad to get this over with instead of sick on the ship, and 2) glad we bought good insurance from travelguard in case they aren't better! I'm sure it'll all work out though.

I think I'd check through your carry-on, and have a smaller duffle or cooler for the booze. I'd have to more than necessary to schlep around for a couple hours.

You can bring them on, so long as they fit through a typical Xray scanner (like in the airports), and do NOT contain any ice.

You just really have to think about the fact that you have no access to your rooms until 1:30, and if you plan on arriving early, then it can be long with your carry ons.

We try to make them as light as possible, and bring a rolling cooler (no ice) for our alcohol, and it is SO much easier on everything...

Do you check your cooler in? I really want to be able to have a drink in the room before the party but I won't be able to do that if the bags don't arrive til later.

Think my best bet is to take a small bag with my bacardi & lemonade in it then, but check in my clothes etc. How strange that I can do without my clothes but not my bacardi. :confused3 :sad2:

I'd bring the alcohol with you. I wouldn't want to risk something being broken/spilled by the baggage handlers.

Also, the earliest you can usually board the ship is around 11:45-12, so it really isn't that long that you have to haul a bag around. We usually go to lunch right when we board and soon after our room is ready. So not a big deal to have a few bags with us.

Oh no, we roll it onboard with us. It is simple, convenient, and you will see many others doing so.
