Carry-On Bags on Airplane

Just trying to plan ahead, our trip is in one month and due to the new airline rules of what you "can't" bring in your carry-on bags is going to be very frustrating for me. We have Magical Express so that's not a problem with our luggage, but I was planning on bringing on the plane contact solution, eye drops (in my purse), etc. along with my swim suit and a few things to use when we get to WDW. Would it be smart to just check in a small bag with those few things and pick up only that one at the luggage terminal?

Also, does anyone know if the airlines (we're flying out of O'Hare) is still letting the portable dvd players onboard with you and also any problems with bringing your camera? I'm hoping that things will ease up a bit, can you imagine not being able to have your eye drops with you in your purse?

If anyone can share their experiences with me it would help me know what to pack in my carry-on.

Thanks.

Well we traveled within a week after the event so no liquids were allowed. It's good to know that they realize that some people need the saline solution in the dry atmosphere of the plane!

Cameras are not a problem.

Actually it says you can only have the 4 ounces in checked luggage. Under carry on it says no.
I'm quoting this from the TSA website:
Eye drops - You are allowed to carry up to 4 oz., of eye drops with you. Volumes greater than 4 oz., are only permitted in your checked baggage.

I take that to mean that 4 oz. of eye drops are permitted as carryon but larger volumes must be in checked luggage. Maybe I'm over-reaching with my interpretation? :confused3

We are travelling next week. Like the other posters stated, you are allowed to bring up to 4 oz saline/eyedrops. You are now allowed to bring chapstick or lipstick but it has to be the solid type....no glosses or tube type. We are doing carry ons only this trip and are shipping stuff Fed Ex to the hotel for concvenience. Besides shipping shampoos and liquids we are also shipping large items like shoes which take up a lot of room. This is the first time we are doing this, so I think it will work out well. This will also save lots of time at the airport espically if you can print your boarding passes, you can proceed directly to security.

To get the most up to date info, visit your airline's website, you will find all the info you need there too. You can also call the 800# for your airline and ask.

Keep up with the latest updates on TSA's website. They seem to be making periodic tweaks to the liquids/gels rules, just as they did with the original crack-down after 9/11. I'm hoping things will be fairly logical and routine by the time we go in December.

Under Carry-on: No
Under Checked: Yes

You have to look at the other two columns and their headers. I think when the new liquid prohibition stuff came into effect they also banned under 4 ounces, and just forgot to change the description text.

I too needed to travel with eye drops. I took prescription drops with me that were still sealed from the pharmacy and I had no problems going through the check in. I also traveled with two cameras, a 35 mm and a digital. No problem at all. Make sure you always put film in your carry on, because the xray machines that are used for checked luggage damage/destroy your film. I would take one sealed bottle on board with me and put an extra bottle in my checked luggage for safetys sake. I hope this info helps.
