On embarkation day, am I allowed a carry on and a personal bag like a plane? For example, a small rolling suitcase as my carry on, and a backpack as a personal bag.

Thanks for any help!

You can pretty much carry on as many bags as you want. I wouldn't recommend it since you have to lug it around and that's what the tip to the porters helps with, but carry away.

As noted, you can carry on as many bags as you wish to wrangle until your room is ready (around 1:30). Maximum size for carry on bags is 9 X 11 X 14.

You can bring as many carry-on bags as you can physically handle.

Some people can get by with a tote bag, while others may have a backpack, shoulder bag, and two rolling bags.

DW and I usually have a small bag (small backpack or shoulder bag) each to carry our electronics, prescription meds, cruise documentation, jewelry, and other things that we don't want to pack in my checked bag, and I also have a small rolling bag that I put our wine in, along with anything I may want before our checked bags arrive at our cabin (though lately our bags have been delivered to the room by about 3 or 3.30pm so that hasn't been a real concern).

Thank you all for the info. I didn't think about how cumbersome that might be. Maybe I will try and stick everything into the backpack.

Now, if you are boarding right around 1 when the rooms will be open, then it's no big deal. It's those who want to get on board the instant it's allowed, and then have 1 or even 2 hours to lug it all around who will really find it a burden.

We made the mistake of carrying on the ship both of our bags thinking it'd be easier. BIG mistake. It was such a pain and like others said; you HAVE to have it with you until your room is ready. So between that and a stroller (which we had); we were a zoo to try to get around us in line. Sorry to everyone but in the future we'll only bring 1 bag and likely have it be a backpack.

Could you tell me where it specifies those dimensions? Thanks.
OK, you got me. It used to state that on the old website, and before the alcohol policy changed. And it was 22X1X9 (got that wrong - guess I shouldn't have skipped that cup of coffee this morning). Here's what it used to say:
•-Beverages must be packed in your carry-on bag—which must not exceed 22 inches wide, 14 inches high and 9 inches deep in dimension

But that specification isn't there any longer. So, I guess a carry on bag can be any size. :teeth:

Ahh - Yes! That's more like it. :) I'm sure it is still 14"x9"x22" max because it was the same as the airline carry-on size, just has to fit through the scanners. They have probably somehow forgotten to include the dimensions in their "new and improved" (NOT!) website - lol.

But it's true that the lighter one travels the better (unless they lose your checked bags), especially if wandering around the ship much before the staterooms can be entered.

Here is the official word from DCL as of last week when I emailed them (I was asking about bringing non-alcoholic drinks onboard):

As for bringing beverages onboard, Disney Cruise Line does not prohibit
Guests from bringing non-alcoholic bottled beverages, such as water or
soda, onboard. All bottles must be sealed/unopened and fit into your
carry-on day bag. Your carry-on bag must not be larger than 9" x 14" x
22".

Please be aware, Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile
items (including beverages) from checked luggage. Beverage containers
are considered fragile and in checked luggage have caused damage (e.g.
carbonated cans "explode", glass bottles break). For this reason, all
fragile items and beverages must be hand carried onboard the vessel in
your day bag and/or carry-on.

As far as coolers, large coolers may not be brought onboard. However,
small personal-sized coolers for the purpose of housing medications,
baby food, baby milk, or items related to dietary constraints are
permitted to be brought onboard. These coolers can be no larger than 12"
x 12" x 12" and can only contain the above items.

As always, the above is subject to change without notice.
