This has probably already been asked, but I am wondering if when you get off at the ports and buy wine, etc., do they take it from you when you re-board and give back at the end of the cruise or can you take it to your cabin? We are not big drinkers, but I do enjoy a glass of wine with my cheese and fruit platter on the verandah in the evening. I am thinking that the 2 bottle limit will be enough for the 7 days, but was just wondering what happens when you buy in the ports.

you can "replenish" at each stop with 6 beer or 2 bottles of wine, per guest in stateroom over 21. Hard alcohol will be held until disembarkation.

This really should be 6 beers OR 2 bottles of wine. But other than that, this is correct. You could purchase a couple extra bottles of wine at a port stop to replenish your stateroom supply. No liquor though. That will be taken and stored until the morning you disembark.

WOOPS Sorry... yes... that is what I meant. (I was picturing myself walking on with 2 bottles of wine and the hubby walking on with his beer as I typed LOL.... my bad!)

Aah, shows how much I pay attention because I thought it was 2 bottles of wine per cabin, not person. Well, with that being said, I won't need to purchase any in port because what I bring on will be more than sufficient for our sailing.

Thanks for the responses. :)

Nope, 2 bottles of wine per person or 6 beers per person upon embarkation and in each port. I had no problem with those quantities on the Panama Canal cruise. Didn't even need to buy wine in port. We had 4 bottles of wine we brought on with us and that was plenty (for us).

We really had very little time in our stateroom to drink it. Only when we were getting read for the evening. The rest of the time we were out and about. I actually had 1/2 bottle left at the end of the cruise.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but has anyone tried to ask for substitutions to the beer and wine rule? Wht I mean is - my DW and I are not beer or wine drinkers, but we enjoy vodka coolers. Just wondering if they'd allow us to take 6 of those on board instead of 6 beer?

No hard liquor. Only wine/champagne or beer.

When people have called to ask if hard cider could be brought on board in place of beer, they have been told no.

They should allow for some small hard alcohol. Because not everyone drinks beer or wine. Now on the other hand, vodka and rum are clear liquids. Lol.

Vodka coolers aren't hard liquor. They're roughly the same alcohol content as beer, which is why I was wondering if Disney might make a compromise. I guess all I can do is try that day. If not, they will give it back to me at the end of the cruise.

Things like Smirnoff ice coolers aren't always actually liquor in the US , they are often malt based. So depending on what the PP is exactly referring to it might not be banned because of it being liquor.

But they haven't been saying they'll allow cider, so they probably wouldn't see that a malt beverage should be allowed either. If your cooler is malt based of course.

I'd try the vodka coolers. As long as you're ok with the potential of losing them if they say no, I'll just say the checkpoint was extremely lax & leave it at that.

I really don't understand why they won't allow ciders. I am boarding tomorrow and would live to take a 6 pack.

The DW likes the coolers from Canada as they are vodka, not the malt-based from the US - so yes, they would include vodka. I'll probably try bringing them on and plead my case.

From our experience if you put a 6 pack of Smirnoff Ice in your carry on instead of a 6 pack of Bud I would be surprised if they took it off you as they are the same size and have the same, possibly less, ABV than the beers. They never even looked in our carry on - let alone asked what we were taking onboard - and I wished now I had took my Smirnoff Moscow mules instead of the wife's Bud as she only drank one all cruise.

This would make complete sense from an objective standpoint but I'm guessing even if the official policy allowed it that enforcement would be hit-or-miss; sometimes you'd get the coolers or cider through the security check and sometimes you wouldn't. I wouldn't bother trying because of that but YMMV.

I'm not trying to "smuggle", I just want to know whether or not it's worth my while to pick up Bailey's at the airport Duty-Free. :)
If I can't bring it on board then I would have to get rid of it before flying back to Canada. :(
