Carribean Beach Question

Hi All,

We're considering a September trip and were looking at Carribean Beach. We've stayed at all the other moderates except this one and were debating if we should try it out.

We have kids so the kiddie pool looks appealing, however... Are the beds still doubles or are they upgraded to queens now? Are the rooms themselves recently refurbed? How bad are the buses compared to the other mods? Anything else we should consider?

Just curious if we should try it out or if we'd be better off with another mod?

the beds are still doubles or else you can get 1 king.
I haven't stayed at other Disney Mods (but stayed at plenty other moderate-deluxe hotels) but the rooms were perfectly fine. Didn't look worn or in need of a refurb (weren't they just refurbed a couple years ago?)
I had no problem whatsoever with the buses. The longest we waited was maybe 15 minutes tops. Maybe not even that long, maybe closer to 10. And that was only once. Every other time was closer to 5 minutes. As for the other stops after picking us up, sometimes it was a couple, sometimes it was 3-4 (guess it depends on which entrance they're going out) but really, how much time does 4 stops really add to your ride - 5 minutes?

The room still feature just double beds. They are nicely decorated. I think they were refurbished a few years ago (before 2009). We personally love this resort and will be staying there in just 2 weeks! The rooms are nice and the buses have always been great for us. The resort is large but we have never had any problem walking to the main area - usually about a 5-7 min walk. We are trying the preferred rooms this time. Beautiful resort. There is a pool in each "village" as well as the main pool with the slides and zero entry. Each "village" also has its own bus stop. This of course means you could have up to 5 stops after they pick you up - or 5 stops ahead of you when they drop you off. But it never seemed long to us...

We loved our stay at CBR! We got a king bed though. We didn't find the buses problematic at all.

Keep in mind, that there are no elevators in any of the buildings at CBR, so if your kids are young enough to need a stroller, consider requesting a ground floor room.

ALL of the rooms were totally refurbed around 2-3 years ago.

The bus service is pretty much the same everywhere.

Any idea why cbr is the only mod without queens? Is it room size related?

Doubtful, since the CBR has the biggest mod rooms. My guess is that CSR has them because it's a convention hotel, so they got them first. Then CBR was refurbed (in 2008 I think) and they kept the doubles, but since then they (Disney) have decided mods would have queen size beds and only POR and POFQ have been due for refurb. Thus, CBR will probably get queens on their next refurb which likely won't be for another few years.

Until about a year and a half ago, Coronado Springs was the only mod WITH queens. POFQ was refurbed about a year and a half ago and they changed to queens, and POR is still undergoing a refurb and when complete, all rooms with two beds will be queens. I suspect in the coming years when CBR is due for another refurb, they will change them to queens. When they did the refurb at CBR a few years back, apparently they were not changing the beds out at that time.

I have stayed at all of the moderates in the last couple months, and CBR was far and away my least favorite of the bunch.... Had great stays at both Coronado and POR though...

The kid pool is great at CBR. Our son loved it when he stayed there when he was 3 and 4.

We just got back from our first stay at CBR. We have stayed at all of the mods except CSR and unfortunately CBR was by far our least favorite.

First, the positives- Mousekeeping did a great job and we had no problems with our room. We had a second floor room and was pleased that it was quiet. The pool was excellent. My daughter did love the kiddie pool, but the bucket of water that drops on them spills with so much velocity that it was scary to some kids. My daughter figured out how to avoid it by counting how many times the bell rang before the water dropped. We had no problems with the buses but budget extra time to get where you are going because CBR has 7 bus stops.

As for the negatives I didn't think CBR had much of a Disney feel. It is so spaced out that we hardly ever saw any cast members except at Old Port Royale and I can't say we found many friendly ones. If you need to get to the Custom House you have to take an internal tram depending on your location. We requested a favorable location to Old Port Royale but still found it hard to get around at CBR.

Hope this has been helpful.:goodvibes
