due to my negligence in calling late that's the only mod that was open for ap rates so any tips or comments will be appreciated. Thanks

I have only stayed there once, on my first trip, and the most striking feature of the resort is that it is HUGE! It is a nice place to stay, however it is not one of my personal favorites, because of it's size, and the fact that it is usually pretty crowded. I do not recall a problem while I was there, but I have heard other people, here on the boards complain about the bus service. There is something like 4 or 5 bus stops at the resort, and so you end up riding around the resort on each trip. The food court is pretty good and the theme is kind of nice...I usually travel with just my DGF, and it is not really a great resort for adults without kids...more of a family place. Like I said, it has been a while since I stayed there...have a great trip...hope this helps:earsboy:

It seems like each resort goes though a popularity downswing on these boards. It seems like it's CBR's turn along with the Epcot resorts right now. You just don't hear much about CBR, BWI or YC/BC right now. Dpn't worry though, I can remember when the Contemporary and both Port Orleans resorts were in the same position.

It doesn't mean that CBR is any less wonderful than one of the more talked about places, it's just not in the mix right now. You will have a fantastic vacation!

I've stayed there and so I'll give you what I think are the good and bad points:

Good:
-Largest rooms of any moderate resort. Not by a whole lot, but they are larger.
-Several small pools located within clustered room buildings.
-Yes, there are a few stops within the resort, but you don't have to share a bus with another resort as you do in some places.
-If you want to go to the food court area, you can hop on the bus at your stop and be let out at the food court/general area. This is only true if your stop is before the food court obviously.

Bad:
-If you plan to walk to the food court and you are in one of the far off buildings, it is a long walk.
-It can take a while for the bus to make all of it's stops within the resort.

The only negative really that I saw was the size of the resort. Since we usually stay at OKW, we don't see multiple bus stops as a deal breaker.

we stayed there and we really liked it - the atmosphere is wonderful. it is a big resort, but that didnt' bother us too much. We were in Bermuda and that is the last stop - on the way to the parks we got on the bus and headed out, on the way back we got off at the first stop and walked from there, it wasn't far back to our room from that stop.

It was quite a walk to the food court, but it was very pleasant. We dont' use the food court a great deal, so it wasn't a problem for us, and the local pool was very close by so we used that a lot and went to the big pool less often.

All in all I would recommend it.

There have been many threads about CBR on the DIS. There are many many people that enjoy CBR.

You might want to check out the CBR FAQ listed below.

From our personal experience I think the downfall for this resort is it's size. It's too big. My BIL called it a factory, then get you in and get you out. Everything just seemed out of touch unlike all of the other resorts where things are more close knit. The CBR is a beautiful resort just too big.

Our dislikes:
the size of the resort
the main pool
the food court
too many trees around the resort

But this is just my families opinion. Others feel differently and that's ok.

CBR is quiet beautiful, and provides a very festive theme. There is plenty of evening action at the food court area (can't recall what that's called) without it being bothersome for people turned-in for the day. The main pool is very nice, has a water fall, low entry (not zero) and many kid features. An inviting cabana is also at the main pool/snack bar for your pleasure. The bus stop thing is not a big problem, the multiple stops allow you to get off the bus at the market/snack bar for a last minute need, and head across the resort to your room. We're DVC members, and when not staying at a DVC resort, we select CBR. Not that all the moderates aren't great mind you.

I honestly do not know why people say it is such a long walk - please, please don't let people discourage you with those remarks. Yes, CBR is a big resort but that is what I think makes it so appealing and peaceful and quiet. We stay in Jamaica which is across from the main food court but within a less than 5 minute beautiful walk. We absolutely love CBR and its atmosphere - we just love feeling like we are in the tropics. We just cannot say enough about it - we are heading down next month with my n-laws who stayed at CBR about 5 years ago and they insisted on staying there again which, as you can tell, we were thrilled with. Just to compare resorts we did decided to stay a few nights at CSR just to be different but we do love CBR - give it a chance:)

We stayed there in July and we loved it. We were in Jamaica, right by the walkway to the food court and main pool, and the bus stop was practically outside our door. The Jamaica stop was almost always the first stop to pick up and drop off passengers. We were very pleased with everything and we will stay there when we go back in 2006.

We love CBR. We also stay in Jamaica. The combination of being the first bus stop and right next to the bridge to Old Port Royale (where the food court is) cant be beat. Aruba is also a good choice. Yes, the resort is huge, but each village has its own charm and the size adds a less crowded, quiter feel than most WDW resorts. The landscaping here is lush and beautiful . Walking across Parrot Kay in the morning and just soaking it all in is one of my favorite WDW memories.

DH and I stayed there last July 2003 and LOVED it! We didn't find the walking to be much of a problem - but we don't have any kids yet. I thought the theming was fabulous! It was so relaxing and the colors are so vibrant. We like the fact that the resort was spread out - it added to a feel of privacy and seclusion. We only visited the main pool once (but thought it was really cute) and spent most of our time in the quiet pool which was just steps away from our room. There were many times when we were the only people in the quiet pool.

We didn't use the food court much, but thought it was pretty good - as good as any Disney food court, which I don't tend to care for anyway.

Have a great time!

"A tale of two trips." My first two to CBR, that is. For the first, we were in Trinidad South (building 39) in a badly-in-need-of-refurb room (I won't go into detail since it's now moot.) The walk to Old Port Royale was lengthy. A quick trip to the feature pool wasn't really an easy option. It was a just plain bad experience.

A couple of years later, we decided to give it another try. We stayed in a freshly refubed Martinique room and the stay was fantastic. We've stayed there 3 times since.

So, send in that fax request. Use this WDWIG MAP to get a good idea of where you want to stay. Because, honestly, it makes quite a bit of difference.

I've stayed there 2 times (plus 1 night on a business trip) and liked it. The first time was in 1998, we stayed in Martinque 25, very convenient to food court. Last October, we stayed in Barbados 15. I thought it was going to be far from the food court but it was less than a 5 minute walk. I like the landscaping of the resort, it's very tropical.

We love CBR!! We were talking about trying another moderate resort this year, but ..nope ;) CBR it is!!!! :)
