By all means request a courtyard view. You will have nice scenery and still be close.

We were there 2 weeks ago and decided to take our chances. Ended up in Barbados 13. I thought at first we would be disappointed, but found out we were close to the busstop one way, close to the village pool the other way, and right across the road from the Customs house so we were able to pull our luggage both ways and not wait for bell services. Woo-Hoo!! The walk to Old Port Royale really wasn't that bad, and we have a 4 yr old. There were people in the far end of Martinique just half a block from us that paid extra. I would take my chanced again.
