carriage rides in Nassau

Has anyone ever taken one the horse and carriage rides that are near the pier in Nassau? Wondering how much they were and where went, like could we take a ride to the beach or is it more scenic ride around the town and they bring you right back to the dock where you get on

We took one on our last cruise in May. I think we paid about $40. I wasn't a good negotiator though because I've heard of friends who only paid about $30. We enjoyed it as the guide gave us some of the history of the island the tour lasted about 20-25 minutes I think

It is certainly more of a tour than a type of transport. I guess you could request they take you to Junkanoo Beach which isn't too far away, but it woudl certainly be cheaper and quicker to take a cab to anything much further than that.

Thanks! Our girls loved the carriage ride we did here at home that goes thru downtown Ft Worth so we figured they'd get a kick out of this too, and we could see the area and then probably just take the quick walk to junkanoo! Thanks for the info!

We did the carriage ride in Nassau in December 2014 and I will never do it again. Our driver was drunk and kept repeating himself. He took us to very sketchy areas. We thought we might even be robbed before leaving. At the end of the tour we gave him for $40 for the the tour and $10 tip. His boss took his tip and our driver wanted us to "follow" him out of the crowded area so we could report his boss to the police. We did not follow him, we got back on the boat. I'm pretty sure if we followed him, we were going to get robbed. Please keep in mind that we are a well traveled family. We feel comfortable walking around large cities like New York and we did not feel safe. If you want to get off the boat in Nassau, I would recommend doing an excursion. Everyone we talked to on our boat who did excursions were very happy. My husband and I said that if we are ever in Nassau again, we will only get off the boat to go to Starbucks.
