Can someone please help me with info on the carriage ride in Nassau…price (3 adults and 2 kids), location, length, quality, etc?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

My family of two adults and two kids went for 20.00, I believe. My other family members got charged 30.00 for one additional person. You really need to barter with them if you are not satisfied with the price they quote you. It's not set in stone, so to speak!
Anyway, the ride begins just a short walk from the pier...Believe me, THEY will find YOU! There is a long line of buggies just waiting for passengers. Can't miss it! They are across from the line of stores that you see when you first get off the ship.
The ride itself lasts about 15 minutes and goes through a very crowded area of town. I was scared for the horses that a car might hit them! I could barely hear what the driver was saying because of all the traffic noise! It was definately an eye opener as far as what Nassau really looks like (poor!). After the ride, they offer to take a picture of you using your camera.

Thanks Ashley24!

Anyone else have an opinion on if they enjoyed/didn’t enjoy this ride etc?

yes...nassau is terribly poor.....
i didn't realize it gained its independence 30 years ago....
those 30 years have not been kind....

in any case.....we didn't take the carriage ride but probably saw some of the same area in the taxi we took from atlantis...
i don't think i'd want to take a carriage ride there....but then again, i don't like taking a carriage ride in manhattan either...

if you do this, be sure to negotiate the price and agree on it up front...

Be forewarned that when they offer to take a picture of you with your camera, they will expect to be paid for doing so. Yes, they really need the money, but you need to be aware that they offer nothing for free!

For 2 adults and a child we paid 20.00....the ride was through town, past some broken down houses and a church and we got let off at the straw market. Would I do it again??? NO WAY....I would not even bother to step foot off the boat in Nassau again...not worth it!

We have done the carriage ride a few times back when we used to disembark in Nassau. As everyone else has said, the price is negotiable and you need to agree to it before the ride. I was used to downtown Chicago, where the drivers are in a line and can only take passengers in the order of the line-up, like cabs at the airport. In Nassau, it's every driveer for himself, and they can get very competitive. That also means you can pick a carriage that you like. I liked it...a nice way to see that area, but the traffic can be a bit frightening!

Hello there -
Norm and I had the opportunity to go to Nassau last year - I had never been and further more had never been on a "buggy" ride - We asked how much and was told $30.00 - no amount of bargaing did any good so we thought hum ok they will take us on a long ride (WRONG) - a young boy about the age of 11 said he was coming along for the ride - I was to learn later that children are used to up their prices - we were taken all through the poor parts of Nassau - I felt my stomach wrench as I saw the children and even the poor pets out in a scorching heat - dirty and crying -we were told it was from hunger - I could not wait til I got back for I couldn't wipe the picture from my mind - I wanted to go back and ease all of them's pain and knew I couldn't - as we stepped down the young boy told me that it was his family that we saw crying and would we give him monies so he could take it back to his family - so the trip cost us well over $70.00 - nope do not recommend it from this end. Too heartbreaking
always
