I'm not quite sure if this is the correct spot to post this, so mods feel free to move.

Has anyone done the carriage ride during the holiday season? Is it decorated? Any description would be helpful!!

You guys are the greatest! :teeth:

We were at Fort Wilderness for three nights last week; Nov 29th,-Dec 1st. We took a carriage ride on Thursday evening at 7pm. The carriage itself is not decorated but the ride takes you through several loops that have some nice Holiday decorations. I had hoped that the carriage might have some kind of battery operated Christmas lights and greenery on it. The ride was very enjoyable and two large warm blankets were provided for us. (It was in the upper 40s at night while we were there)
If you don't have a reservation yet you might think about doing that. We DID have a reservation and all but one time slot had been taken by the time we took our 7pm ride. A walk-up ride with no ressie would have been difficult. The price I had seen for the carriage ride was $30 but the price had bumped up to $35 while we were there. (actually $40 if you include the $5 tip I paid) Not sure if that is a permanant change though.
Following the carriage ride we took the little boat to Wilderness Lodge and had hot chocolates in front of the fireplace. Then sailed out onto the lake on the 9:15 boat which stopped on the lake to view the Christmas Party fireworks from Magic Kingdom. We then were returned to Fort Wilderness where we watched the Lighted Water Parade from the beach. This was a super way to end our short trip.

Hope this info helps. Have a good trip! :wave2:

Thank you so much for the information! I made reservations yesterday and yes it is $35.00 yesterday. I like your idea of hot chocolate by the fireplace. What a wonderful way to end an evening.

Hey Experiment626mom... I notice you're also from Illinois. We're from Champaign area. Made the trip down to Florida over 2 days. Stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Marietta, Ga. (just north edge of Atlanta) the first night. Got a great suite for $40 on Priceline.com and loved the room. Just info for you if you're driving down and haven't got Hotel reservations yet. The Priceline.com worked great for us.
Have a good trip! Hope the weather is better than Illinois!!! :wave2:

gilesdad - Wow great price!! We are flying down as you never know about those ice storms in GA!! I'm jealous you will be in WARM, sunny Florida long before we will. How long will you be there for? I assume you are staying at Ft Wilderness.

Already back from Sunny Florida. :sunny:
Notice my vacation ticker says "since" the trip. We did stay at Fort Wilderness, in a tent. Temps were a bit chilly the last couple nights but it was a fair trade for the blue skies and 72 degrees while at Magic Kingdom.
We drove 2600 miles round trip and about 30 miles from home we hit sleet, freezing rain, and then snow. That was a nice welcome back to Illinois weather.

You have got to love Illinois weather. We used to get that alot up here around Chicago, but the last few years it seems to all head your way. Glad to hear you had a good time. When's the next trip?
