Does anyone have a carpet cleaning machine? We need to get a new one and was wanting some advice. We have had a Hoover one in the past but it would leak when you used it. Anyone ever tried the Bissells? Which one do you recommend? Also, what about the hand held ones?

I just bought the Bissel SpotBot this past Sunday and it has done very well on spots on our carpets. We have our carpets cleaned twice a year but we have a cat that gets sick a lot and this worked great. I bought it at Target and it was $128 and they are doing a $25 gift card this week! :)

Do you know if that $25 gift card is just for that particular cleaner or if you buy any carpet cleaner there?

I am not sure, it was in the ad from this past Sunday. :)

I think you get a general Target gift card with the purchase.

We had a Regina Steemer Carpet Cleaner for years. It finally pooped out when DS used it to suck up spilled paint off of carpet and we didn't flush it right afterwards. I think it just got gummed up with dried paint!

That SpotBot is the one my DS has (for the puppy). He likes it real well. I'm trying to get my Sis to get it. She has had her carpets cleaned, but a particular coffee stain needs some extra help & I'm thinking that might do it.

I was looking online today and found one that has good reviews. Bissell Proheat 2X that has a built in heater. They have two models but are pretty expensive so I was hoping someone had tried one and could share their opinion.

Do you have the black, blue or maroon one? Apparently they all have different amounts of brushes (6, 10 or 12) and range in price from $169 to $249. Glad to hear it works great. I might pick one up tonight using the Santa Bucks at Meijers. Just need to decide which model to get.

I have a Hoover. love it. no problems with it. maybe you just got a lemon.

Just bought the Bissel from Target for $ 169 and recieved a $ 20.00 Target Gift Card. It was the proheat Model with the Six Brushes. The 2x has twelve brushes and was $ 199 without the gift card. Unit works well cleans much better than the Hoover Steam Vac which I had. Hoover Steam Vac developed a leak and brushes didn't spin anymore. Spinning Brushes work of Air Pressure from Vacum portion. Eventually got all clogged up and stopped Spinning. Would recommend it.

I have a Nautavac.

This is a commercial type cleaner.
I used to rent them to clean my carpets, but when the place switched to the awful Rug Doctor machines, and I could no longer rent one nearby, I went to the nautavac website and ordered a used one.

It works great.
Leaves the carpets very dry.

I am so glad that I have a carpet cleaner!
No more renting or paying out the nose for a service to come in!

I have that, it works very well, much better than the Hoover, which I have had 2 of. Much easier to use and gets the carpets cleaner, imo.

My parents have one they bought at Sears about 20 years ago that's more like the ones the professional carpet cleaners use and it does a great job.
