Carousel of Progress "boxes"

I have noticed this several times and finally have gotten curious enough to ask.

On the front of the stage in every scene, there are about 5 small metal rectangular boxes right by the edge, I have no idea what they are. I thought maybe they were small lights, but when one show was over, I went over to one of them and they are definitely not lights. Nor are they speakers. Does anyone have ANY idea what these function as??

You can see one of these boxes right in front of the table and another one in the left corner of the screen.

Are they sensors to detect if someone tries to walk on the stage?

That’s what I always assumed too. Sensors. Not sure though.

The sensors immediately darken the theater in the event Uncle Orville emerges from his bath without a towel! No privacy a'toll around here.
