Has anyone used Carolyn Allen to come to their hotel room the day of to have their wedding dress steamed? They are closed on Sundays so I cannot call today and ask about prices but I just wanted to get an idea about how much it will cost. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Yes—they get lots of rave reviews for gown steaming on this board. The price depends on the style of dress and the material it's made of, but figure on at least $80-$100 until you can get your custom quote.

I had them come to my room at 5:30am on the day of the wedding to steam my dress. They actually brought my dress to me because I'd paid the $15 for their gown shipping and storage service: I sent it to them 2 weeks before the wedding, they brought it to me, steamed it, picked it up after the wedding and shipped it back to my house. I can't recommend this service enough—it was incredibly convenient. :thumbsup2

Not to hijack the thread but.. If we're driving from Georgia with the dress bag hanging in the backseat.. would it need to be steamed?? :confused3 I don't know anything about any of that stuff.. I'm a jeans and tee kind of chick! :)

This is great info! I definitely want to ship my dress from VA to FL and have it ready to go day of! That'd be perfect!

Sure thing!

It depends on the material of the gown—if it's fluffy layers of tulle, it's probably not going to need to be steamed. Mine was polyester "satin," so I didn't think it would need steaming, but it did get kinda creased being all wadded up in a shipping box. If yours has already been steamed by the dress shop and remains hanging the whole time, you may not need to have it steamed again. :thumbsup2

Mine is the Alfred Angelo Cinderella!! :lovestruc I haven't picked it up yet.. waiting for it to come in! So it should be alright... I would think. :confused3

We drove also and I laid my dress in it's bag on top of everything else in the back. I made sure to hang it up right away when we got to our resort and I also brought along a small hand-held steamer we picked up for like $20. I just used it the night before for small parts of the dress that I thought needed touching up and I also used it for my veil since it was pretty wrinkly.

HTH :goodvibes

Sure, it's the Connair handheld steamer. We bought it at Kohl's and used a coupon. I think it was originally around $24.99.

I wast really easy to use and I even steamed DH's tux shirt with it.
