I went to my city's carnival the other day. I was just curious what it was like; I've never been to one. It was so trashy! There was graffitti on the rides, they were rusty and dirty. The workers looks like they just rolled out of a dumpster and they were all smoking! The food was ridiculous expensive (even more than Disney), not that I would eat it anyways. Call me spoiled, but this place was nasty.

What's your local carnival like?

Pretty much the same, except add kids who start gang fights. A few kids got tazered last year

Yuck, I've never been to a carnival.
I don't think we even have one.

I've gone to the Ex a few times before, but only for the indor things, none of the rides or anything, that's the only place that's gross.
Other than that I've never been to any carnivals, they always looked so grungy and dirty.

Well, the carnival in my town is next month. It's a lot of fun. Sure, the food is really expensive. The rides are fun but I wouldn't trust them a whole lot since they can be taken down and put up in a day.

Our annual carnival is pretty fun!
All the community come together, and we have a competition for the best themed lorry, stalls, raffles, games, locally grown food, chocolate fountains, face painting..
We don't have any of those rides, but I wouldn't ride 'em anyway. :scared:
Last year, we had a tent with snakes and stuff! :teeth:
Sometimes there's dog shows too.
Also, we have bouncy castles and those bouncy slide things..

That scares me lol. Some of the rides look like they'll just fall apart once you go on them...

Oh my gosh, our carnival is atrocious. It is set up in the parking lot where a flea market is held sometimes. The rides are old and rickety. The workers are creeeeps and dirty I suppose. They put up the whole thing overnight basically which frightens me. Most people who go there are families with young children who don't know better or gangbangers.

lol.
i am a total redneck, but i find that kind of stuff so much fun.
me and my friends go to the fair almost every year.
the rides suck, but i like the food and the demolition derby and truck pull and all that stuff.
but fights do break out and the beer garden can get pretty bad at times.

Some probably would.

I was at the Sandwich fair a year or two ago and the day was over so I was walking back to my dad's car. Two of the rides must have been in overload or something because there was a ton of smoke.. We were outside the park, so I dunno what rides they were.

Some of the rides they have there can't be trusted. There was this one at that fair that you sit down and it just swings you back and forth. The scary part? It goes up pretty damn high. If it went any higher, it would have gone upside down.

Yeah, most carnivals are dirty and awful. Some I'm sure are nice, but REAL carnivals have rust Ferris Wheels that will tip over on you. I've never been to one, and I don't ever want to go to one.

No carnivals here, only fairs. Which, based on your description, I think are very different!

Dude, everyone's hatin' on carnivals!!!
I on the oter hand love them.
If I see a parking lot Carnival (which there are quite a few of around here in the summer) I'M THERE! Nay, it does not faze me that I know this parking lot Carnival was probably put up in a few hours, nor does it faze me that it'll be taken down in that amount of time. The dirty, scary carnival workers--all part of the fun! Play your cards right and you could get FREE RIDES!
Seriously, I think carnivals are an essential part to my summer, I always round up all my friends and head to the Carnival, it's cheaper than going to a theme park, more fun than a movie, less expensive and time consuming than clubbing. It's just some good ol' fashion fun.

The tilt-a-whirl is the greatest thing ever invented.

We don't have fairs here, just carnivals. I don't go to mine because it's all gangbangers now.

However, if you go 45-1 hour NW of here, they become "bazaars". Now that's bizarre. ;)

Creeper + People = Creeples AKA the dirty men who hang around the fairs (as they are called here) looking at the young women. It is so nasty. Plus all of the old grungy vans that are also freaky as well. I only go during the day that is IF I go at all.

Carnival's here are pretty much the same, I think.
