I am going this December. My kids will have a week vacation in Feb and I have a voucher with SWA that I need to take before Feb 21. So I am planning to use it when they go on vacation. I thought of Carnival.

Does anyone know if this is a good price...Anyone?!?! Or no one knows...just DCL prices?

Duh sorry, I misread your message I saw 12/19 and assumed Dec 19th. That seems kinda high for a Carnival Cruise? But I am not as well schooled in Carnival as I am in DCL. Might I suggest www.cruisecritic.com ?

Per Allseas, for Feb 12-19, 2005 a CAT 9 Deluxe oceanview for the same party on a Western is $3477 for comparison.

Sounds like the Carnival Glory that you pricing. I am sailing on the Glory on October 9th doing the western route in a Category 4D (inside cabin) for $526.25 (I actually got an upgrade from a 4A to a 4D). There will be 2 adults in my cabin which is #7300.

If you decide on Carnival just let me know if I can answer any of your questions upon my return. We were originally scheduled to go to Key West, but the dock is currently under construction and Carnival has substituted Costa Maya.

May I ask that you post a report after your Carnival cruise? We priced out March 2006 with Disney and Wow..it's quite pricey....and are considering Carnival Glory.

If you would be kind enough to post how you found it , I would be very grateful.

If anyone has any experience with Carnival any info would be GR8!!

Thanking you all in advance
Vivian

Sounds like a good price, since one of your kids is probably priced as an adult. It is including insurance which is probably about $200 for 1 adult 2 kids.

I'm looking at August Carnival cruises for 2005

Yes, it is the Carnival Glory! One of the newest ship built last year. I priced DCL about the same date for 7 nights Western Caribbean and it's over $4,000! And I think the 4 night DCL is a over $2,000.

I was talking to our neighbor and when I mentioned Mexico, the first word that came out of his mouth was Belize. He stayed there for the whole week and he said that it is a gorgeous place and he said that it is a must see and must experience. So, I thought of checking Carnival and there it was...one of the WC port is Belize! It just sounds like it is one of the exotic place I am going to love!

Linda, I would love to read your trip report when you come back! :) I hope you enjoy your cruise! Costa Maya sounds exciting! I would rather skip Key West and do Costa Maya!

dzneprincess, thanks for the link!

I will certainly post a report when I get back. After surviving 3 hurricanes in the Orlando area you have no idea how much I want to get away!!! I am also thankful that we will be able to sail out of Pt Canaveral instead of having to be bused to Miami. We have a busload leaving out of Orlando for this cruise. Many people have told me that Costa Maya will be much nicer than going to Key West. I have lived in Orlando since 1987 and have never been to Key West, so that is one reason why I selected the Glory and then the intinerary was changed. I was in Cozumel several years ago on the Carnival Sensation out o Tampa and unfortunately it rained most of the day because a hurricane was on our tail; hopefully it will be clear sailing on this voyage.

I'll be looking forward to reading all of your Carnival reports. We are sailing out of Tampa on the Carnival Miracle in early June and I'm hoping we will like it as much as we like Disney.

Fantasia-for a price comparison, we are going on the 7 day sailing, departing on June 12, 2005. We have two guaranteed verandah rooms booked. My husband and I are in one and the kids (okay, they're not really kids anymore...ages 17 & almost 21 when we cruise) are in the other. Our price is right at $5000. A friend of mine sailed on the Miracle in April (one of it's first sailings) and loved it.

I think that's a good price.
I have a similar cruise booked in July on the new Valor.
The same cabin would be $2,934.00 includes all charges.
July is a bit higher and I shopped around.
You'll love the Glory!

Thank you guys for replying and sharing the infos! :)

CPM, thanks for the link! I would like to try the Belize X-Stream Kids Cave Tubing. It looks like it's a lot of fun! That's something I think my kids and I can handle. Did you book this excursion through them or thru Carnival? Five hours excursion..WOW, that's a long time! I wonder how far this place is from the port?! I think I will love the Glory too!

Any more infos or experience is welcome to this board! ;) TIA!!

Amazing at how many threads are now being posted about other cruise lines!

I am also checking into a different line. I want to surprise my family with a spring break cruise. Although we just returned from the 9/27 Wonder, it was such a disappointment that I feel like I need to do another cruise.

I'm checking into Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, etc. so any info and reviews would be great!

We loved the RCCL Voyager - so much for kids to do. My sons are 10 and 25 and they all had a great time.

In December we will try out a 5 day Carnival Inspiration Western the day after our 3 day Wonder voyage ends, have an RCCL Monarch Baja California 4-day scheduled for Feb, and a 7-day Sapphire Princess scheduled for June - an Alaska Cruise.

We want to try them all and are working on it. We do have a 7 day Wonder booked next December because we got a great price. Believe me, I do choose based on price and itinerary - I'd rather cruise more than once every few years and have found ways to do so.

Next year at this time, I'll be able to offer a more comprehensive comparison.

I am just back from the 10/9 Carnival Glory western voyage. I had a wonderful time although the weather left a lot to be desired.

We arrived in Costa Maya on Monday, 10/11 and there were 2 other ships due to dock with us, but they never did due to bad weather. All excursions on the Glory were canceled. We just put our ponchos and rain for the stores for a short period of time. I was not too impressed with the beach area by the dock which others had said was so nice.

On Wednesday10/13 we were in Cozumel which was also another nasty day. We booked a beach excursion to go to Passion Island and the sun never came out all day. I did see the Magic in port that day.

Thursday, 10/14 we were in Progresso which was another cloudy day.

Then on or sea day on 10/15 I thought that I would finally be able to lay out on deck and get some sun. After the 11 am debarkation talk I went to the pool and by 1:30 it became all overcast and cloudy and rained later in the day. So much for a suntan.

The cruise director, John Heald is out of this world. He is amazing....the best cruise director that I have ever met.

I will try and write more when I have more time. Please feel free to answer questions. I saved all of the Carnival Capers for the week.

Debarkation in Pt. Canaveral was definitely a slow process. It was a nice surprise to see the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder together in Pt Canaveral today. Hopefully I got some good shots of the Magic from the top deck of the Glory.

Through them. I think they said it takes almost an hour to get there. I have heard great things about this excursion.
