Carnival Cruise Advice Needed

We are sending my parents on a cruise for their 50th Anniversary. Everyone bought g.c.'s for Carnival - now they don't know where they want to go!

Does anyone have any experience with Carnival, and any suggestions about which destination they preferred, and why?

Keep in mind that this is a couple in their 70s, and they're not into beach/snorkeling/etc.

Help, please!

We went on the Carnival Spirit not too long ago and it went to Panama, Costa Rica and Belize. Panama was SO fun! We took a tour through 3 of the locks on the Panama Canal and it was almost as good as going through it on a big ship! It was pretty much an all day tour but really fun and interesting. Costa Rica is really pretty as well and they have a tour that takes you to the Torturengo Canal which you get on a boat and go down this jungle type river thing for awhile. It was interesting and we saw some neat things like crocs, sloths, and monkeys. They also have a jungle ariel tram tour that sells out quite quickly that is supposed to be beautiful. Belize I cant help you with though as we did scuba diving but I do know that they have an Altun Ha which is a Mayan site they can go site seeing at. There is also a Baboon Sanctuary there that might be pretty interesting. On our cruise there were several people about your parents ages and it is an 8 day cruise. It is listed as a Western Carribean cruise and the one we took left on a Sunday afternoon!

I forgot something as well. Go to www.cruisecritic.com and go to their Carnival board. There are SEVERAL people there who will be glad to help you out as well! It is a board just like this where people can give you more ideas. We have been on 8 Carnival Cruises but on all but the Spirit we did the Beach, Snorkel, Scuba thing and didnt pay much attention to the rest!

Last summer DH and I went on the Carnival Triumph out of NYC. It went to St. John's New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. (Most people seem to go to the Carribean for cruises and this one was different.) Lots of historical and nature type tours. Also the age group was a little more "mature" than other cruises we have been on. We would definately do it again. It was relaxed and not "beach oriented" if that isn't their thing.
