Not surprising. Disney keeping mum on reopening parks, universal closed thru May. I’m still saying late fall for Anything to get back to somewhat normal.

you are probably correct I said a few weeks ago Oct 1. Or somewhere close to that date. . Hope I’m wrong here and it’s sooner.
I really, REALLY hope you are both incorrect. Portions of the economy being shuttered for six or more months would be a horrible disaster.

My thoughts as well. They are only talking about theme parks (Disney parks to be specific). Many other businesses will likely reopen in some fashion well before Fall. I think businesses that tend to attract big crowds will likely take longer to "normalize" (whatever the new normal will be).
LAX
Too bad those who had cruises cancelled could not get the free dining offer if they booked a WDW vacation after the fact- Different business entities.WDW offered free dining this Summer to those people with trips cancelled this Spring. I don't think they would have done that unless they planned on opening. Since the hospitalizations and deaths are now lower than projected. I'm seeing anything that would change Disney's mind.
It’s interesting how scarce discounted rooms are this Summer. On the theme park board they are talking about how scarce fast passes are for June. It makes me think they are trying to keep capacity low.Too bad those who had cruises cancelled could not get the free dining offer if they booked a WDW vacation after the fact- Different business entities.
My cruise in May was cancelled so I rebooked for August and will be staying at a Disney resort before the cruise.
I expect to see deep deep discounts in the Fall and 2021 when the parks are fully functional again. I think the discounts will be similar to what we saw after the 2008 collapse.
Not with the 20% to 30% unemployment they are predicting. It really depends on how fast we recover from this, but there are a lot more lay offs on the horizon.Don't forget that October 2021 is their 50th anniversary, though. That in itself should be enough to draw in a good amount of customers at any price.

I think there will be tons of empty rooms and needed discounts in the future, but 10/21 is not a time that needs that. Just include a special anniversary parade and fireworks show and enough of the 70% that didn't lose employment will pay full price for the "experience". They were working up towards charging huge prices for that time before the virus closed their parks, and they will probably not raise them as much as they would have liked to, but will also not have to discount them.
I think you are HIGHLY optimistic about when things coming back to normal. California’s governor is saying that schools may not be normal in the fall.
Theme parks are going to be one of the LAST things to be normal
Why is San Fransisco delayed longer??
