Carnation Cafe on Memorial Day

We're planning a late lunch at carnation café on memorial day of our trip. It's our arrival day and as we're driving we aren't totally sure exactly when we'll make it in the park so we weren't going to do reservations, especially with that $10/person policy if you miss because that's outrageous for a family (I'm not disputing the policy here, I think it's a good policy personally). But, all the chatter about crowds earlier in the weekend is making me second guess this and I'm considering whether I need to go ahead and make the reservation and leave home a little earlier than planned. Does anyone have experience doing Carnation Café over Memorial or other holidays?

I can't speak for a walk-up on Memorial Day Monday, but when I checked in at 11:30 am on Friday, March 27 (so the day before the start of peak-Spring Break), they were telling folks that the walk-up wait was 45 minutes.

If you really want to eat there on Memorial day you need reservations or be willing to wait around an hour +/-.
