Carnation Cafe breakfast reservations?

We'll be in the parks late July, and I would like to do breakfast on our first day (a Monday) at the Carnation Cafe. My question about this is twofold!

One, is the timing... I'm not wanting to go real commando style with the rides. I'll be smart with FP's where needed but we have 5 full days so I'm not rushing too much. This would be our first day in the parks and my BF's first ever, so I have a couple things I want to do first thing.... ride the railroad full circle around the park starting at Main Street, ride Peter Pan and perhaps one more in Fantasyland.

After that I'm thinking it's breakfast time, so if we're assuming we got in the parks right at 8am, would a 9am breakfast make sense in that timeline?

Which leads to me next question.... is a reservation at the Carnation Cafe for a (roughly) 9am breakfast on a summer Monday morning necessary? Or should we risk just showing up?

Depends on how long of a wait in line to be seated is okay for you. We usually make reservations because we do not want to wait 20 mins to be seated. :)

I would make a reservation. The line there gets really long! Personally, I would make it a little later. I think with an hour you might be rushing yourself. If it were me, I'd make sure I had time to really relax and take things in. Those first couple hours are always the best time in the park.

I just don't want to get hungry and have to wait for our reservations! I really just want to do a couple more leisurely things, maybe pick up a fastpass for an e-ticket ride, and then do breakfast and then carry on with our day! After all we're going to have 5 days there so I'm not in a hurry to do everything right at once!

Here's the thing, if you make a reservation, you know that you will get a table close too the time you booked.

If you want to try for walk up, you can, however you still run the risk of having to wait. You may get a table right away, but 9:00 am is a pretty popular time for people to want to eat.

You have to decide what you think is best, I personaly would make a reservation then tailor my park stuff to it.

we always do breakfast here on each trip. like the others, I'd make a reservation.

I'd wait 20 minutes for a table at CC, however when we have tried to do walk up seating the wait has been more like 45. Won't do that! :) I definitely suggest a reservation, I would recommend a 9:30 time slot.
