We have never been to Carmines before...either the NYC location nor this AC one. Many friends have and it gets good reviews from them. It seems like everything there is served family style? What if it is just myself and DH? Are we better off just ordering one entree because it will be a lot? What if we ordered chicken Parma or saltimbocca...does it come with pasta or that is separate? What are your fave dishes there?

Thanks

I have been there a couple of times. Yes, everything is served family style and a la carte so pasta & veggies are ordered separately. They have a really good penne alla vodka. Even thought it's a lot of food, we still order one meat and one pasta dish. It's not that much more expensive then going to another restaurant and getting our own meals.

I've been to one of the NYCs and the one in DC. Food is very good and the portions are definitely huge. In NYC I went for lunch with one other person and one pasta dish would have definitely been enough (we also split a sandwich but were stuffed after the pasta). In DC there were three of us and one pasta dish was enough for us. I will say our DC waiter, while very nice, seemed slightly disappointed we only ordered that much but seriously we were stuffed. It sounds like you're local to the location so you can always order two things and take the leftovers home.

If you're talking about Carmine's at the Tropicana, it's good, but no where near as good as Fin or Il Verdi, which are also at the Trop. About Carmine's though...giganto portions. A side of eggplant parmesan was actually enough for 2 people's entrees. Crazy large. Good salads too. Really, really, really prefer Fin or Il Verdi though.

If you go to Carmine's make sure you order the garlic bread. It's out of this world.

DH and I have been to Carmine's at the Tropicana. It is family style. One entree of pasta bolognese was way more than 2 people can eat, and we were hungry!

The food was OK, but if I was going to AC and was looking for a good meal, there are a lot better restaurants in general, and better Italian restaurants in particular.

We went to the one in NYC many years ago. I went with dh and my sister and her husband. It is the only place where we were told we ordered TOO much food. I have never been to the one in AC.
