Someone asked me a question that I can't find the response for on TSA.gov

Anyway, has anyone carried on a Disney carmel apple. Carmel in it's normal form would be a liquid, but it's hardened on these apples so I am voting for it as a food and it would be allowed.

However, as we all know the TSA makes up thier own rules so if anyone has first hand MCO expereince on carmel apples that would be helpful.

Just as jelly is permitted as part of a sandwich but jelly packets are not; and mayonnaise is permitted in/on a sandwich but those little packets of mayonnaise are not; and a bagel-and-cream cheese is permitted but a tub of cream cheese is not... a caramel apple is permitted, but a jar of caramel topping is not (never mind that caramel apples aren't made fwith permanently-liquid caramel topping, they're made with caramel candy that is briefly melted for dipping ;))

Okay, I'm gonna go wayyyy out on a limb here and respond to the question above... someone who wants to bring a caramel apple (or apples) onto a plane for whatever reason, but not if they're going to have to toss it/them at the security checkpoint? Or was the question a riddle?

Why bother?? Leave it somewhere....gad, who ask a question like that?? :smooth:

Ummm...so somebody could bring back a Disney caramel apple back home to enjoy it at home or for somebody else to enjoy?

I'd love to have one now  I love 'em.

By the way, never eat a caramel apple in Downtown Disney when it's windy and you have long hair....just a tip. :rotfl2: (Done that...never again...)

My take on this is that it'll be allowed. Not that the TSA guys will think this much about it but you'd pretty much need a heat source to heat up that apple to make the caramel liquid again. If they're going to be sticklers about this kind of thing...chocolates and other solids that melt (plastic anything) shouldn't be brought aboard. Besides, the TSA guy will see it as hardened candy and may not even think that it was ever liquid. :rotfl2:

Oh, gee, pxlbarrel - now you've got me thinking... while a Hershey Bar, or even a Three Musketeers or Snickers, etc, would be allowed - I bet a BOX of chocolates would have to be packed in your checked luggage... does anybody know the laws about an individual shipping liquor-containing chocolates out of Nevada? I know businesses can't but...

Oh man....you are making me hungry!! Those Carmel apples in the candy shop at DT as soooooo goooooood!! I'm impressed you could make them last long enough to get to the airport. Be sure to allow extra time so if they don't pass security you will have time to sit down and enjoy eating them. :mickeybar

I would think that you would be able to bring them on the plane with you as long as you remove the stick. We've brought many of these home, but none since the restrictions started.

we just got back and had mickey rice krispie bars on a stick in our carry ons. We bought them at the last minute to use up our snack credits for the kids back home. No issues. Had stick and all.

I don't know about liquid filled chocolates, but I brought back several boxes (2 pre-wrapped) of Frangos chocolate mints from Chicago on Saturday night. In fact, I carried on two large shopping bags full of purchases, some even wrapped. Not a problem. I had my SIDA badge with me, but if we are not working or at our base airport, we proceed through security under the same TSA guidelines as the flying public.

A caramel apple is fine.

:thumbsup2

I just got back from WDW and I love the caramel apples from the MK, so much so I brought back 4!!! I put them in the frig as soon I got home and I will eat one each night until they are gone..
any way to answer your question, Yes you can bring them back in your carry on luggage, I had no problems

I just arrived home carrying many boxes of liquor filled chocolates.... no issue at all

and I can attest to the French version of TSA being much more strict than the US version - 40,000 miles flown and almost 4 months since the liquid ban came in place and today a French security agent removed the almost empty container of hairspray I have carried all of the 40,000 miles

Thanks, bavaria (because I'm going to Las Vegas, and Ethel M there can't ship its liqueur chocolates out of state :))!

Reading along this and going to post then I came to this post and was confused I thought I already had then looked and saw that it was posted
by te2077.

So Ditto

TSA would probably question that liquid coming out of the hole left where the stick was pulled out of. Sure hope it's under 3 ounces and fits in a quart size bag. :lmao:
