I wish i could do this. An auction for the rights to her song, : Your so vain" whoever bids the highest gets the rights to who she was singing about plus a concert for 10 people in her home, serving vodka on the rocks and P&B jelly sandwiches. no one other then the winning bidder willl know what the sng is about, argh, I wish I had $$$$$$$ to do this one. Who do you think it is, maybe her Ex husband, james Taylor?

I bet she was singing about herself in a sarcastic kind of way. She and James probably got in a fight, he told her she was vain, so she got mad at him and wrote that song. That's just a theory on my part though.

I don't think her and JT were married at the time ....I had heard that she had a fling with Warren Beatty....now him I can see being vain....very vain!

I think it was about Warren Beatty. I'm glad there's more to the auction than just finding out who the song was about. The article I read about it made it sound as if that info. was all she was auctioning off. I think it stinks that the person has to promise not to tell anyone else. What's the big deal? Also, I wonder if that's enforceable? I mean, if the person buys the rights to the info., can't he/she do whatever he/she wants with it?

The song was written very early into her marriage with JT. Another candidate was Mick Jagger yet he sang along with her on the song. She has said before that it was a composite.
The problem with winning this auction is that the winner agrees to never tell anybody else who it was. It would be like having this really great secret and having to keep it for the rest of your life. I could not do it. And if you told a few people who are close to you and they swore they would tell nobody, it would leak out. There will be large sums of money offered for the answer.
