Carissa's "Let's Get Healthy" Journal!

Not a very good eating day...at least, not a lot of variety.

Breakfast: leftover spaghetti...small portion

Snack: yogurt and banana

Lunch: vegetable soup, salad and a slice of bread (I went out to lunch with a friend)

Snack: almonds

Supper: more leftover spaghetti (it was a leftover night and it should be gone soon!), 1 piece of cheesy bread and more salad

Snack: grapes, 2 weight watcher cookies (1 point for 2) and popcorn

I was watching a movie and was hungry last night, thus the reason for so many snacks. Had a lot of carbs yesterday, but today is another day.

I am very proud of myself though. Last night my friend couldn't walk with me so I went by myself. Usually if I'm alone I only walk for 30 minutes. But I was feeling really good so I did the whole loop which is an hour. First time I've walked by myself for so long.

When I weighed myself yesterday morning, I was down 7 lbs from my starting weight!

Breakfast: oatmeal w/ pb and jam

Snack: banana and almonds

Lunch: spaghetti (that's the last of it!) and canteloupe

Supper: salad with chicken breast

Snack: apple crisp (my version)

Walked for an hour. I just got The Biggest Loser Workout from Netflix and I plan to try that this morning.

AWESOME!!! Keep up the great work!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Kim :)

This morning I did the Biggest Loser workout. I did the first cardio and the first weight training and it kicked my butt. I was sweating A LOT!! LOL But it was a good workout and I did an hour so I'm happy with that.

Breakfast: scrambled eggs and canteloupe

Lunch: Tomato and cheese sandwich on multi-grain bread, some carrot sticks and a few grapes

Snack: Ok...I was starving this afternoon! And we decided to get chinese food for supper and none of the places open until 5 pm (we normally eat closer to 4) so I ended up snacking a lot. I had some almonds, an apple, a small bowl of plain shredded wheat with milk AND some WW icecream (2 points)!!

Supper: I was quite good about supper. We didn't order any spring rolls, although we love them. I did get the boys honey chicken which I normally eat a ton of. Instead I ordered myself the chicken with black bean sauce. It was SO good and had a ton of veggies in it. I'm not sure if it's the same as back in the states or not...I tend to find the Chinese food here is much healthier. Anyway, that was the main part of my meal with a couple of bites of the honey chicken (I had to have SOME), a small amount of veggie fried rice (again, healthier than the states) and one piece of Mongolian beef. I only had one helping which I normally have seconds. So overall, I was pretty happy with myself. Baby steps ;)

I really miss my walking when I don't get to do it. I'm amazed at how exercise is really becoming a part of my life. I've been doing this for a month now and I love it!!

Hi Carissa!

Do you need any equipment to do the Biggest Loser workout? That sounds really good.

Also, with doing that workout for an hour, I'm sure your snacks & maybe even dinner were more than taken care of!!!

Thanks Liz :)

Kim...you just need some hand weights. I used my 3 lb weights, but I also have some 5 lb weights for when I'm stronger. There's 2 cardio workouts and 2 weight training workouts, although the 2nd weight training workout is called "Bootcamp" and it's just as much cardio as it is weight training. It'll be a while before I try that one!

Today I took the day off from working out. My legs were/are quite sore. Back at it tomorrow though.

Breakfast: a banana and a yogurt when I first woke up as I was starving...I actually got the yogurt for my youngest, but he decided he didn't want it and I couldn't waste it ;) Then I had some oatmeal w/ pb and jam later.

Lunch: leftovers...chicken and rice...it's all gone now though and I'm going to get back on track with eating really healthy until Valentine's Day (dh and I have a babysitter and we're going out to dinner!)

Snack: almonds

Supper: chicken, roasted white and sweet potatoes and a big salad

Snack: WW icecream (2 points)
I'm missing a serving of fruit so I'll probably have some in a little bit.

I've started a sore throat today. I'm hoping that's all I get and it goes away like normal. I rarely get a full fledged cold. But I've been feeling very tired lately even though I'm getting lots of sleep.

Sore throat is still here today, but I don't feel any worse so that's good.

Breakfast: I made some homemade wheat pancakes this morning and I had 2 with jam on top and some cantaloupe as well.

Snack: yogurt

Lunch: WW frozen meal (5 points)...I just love those meals! They're so yummy.

Snack: popcorn

Supper: grilled cheese (multi-grain bread w/ lf cheese) and tomato soup...we needed something quick and didn't have a lot of choices

Snack: WW icecream (it's all gone now...probably be a while before I buy some more)

I almost didn't workout again today. Had a very busy day and ran out of time. Plus dh is working tonight so I couldn't go for a walk once it gets dark. But after supper I went outside and realized it wasn't all that hot so I went for my walk then. I did 35 minutes. Since I started working out January 1st, I haven't gone 2 days without working out so I really didn't want to start now. I'm proud of myself for doing it! :)

I'm proud of you too!! :cheer2: :cool1:

You are doing GREAT!!

Thanks, also for the info. I am definitely gonna look into those.

Breakfast: shredded wheat/egg pancake w/ ketchup and some cantaloupe

Lunch: Lean Cuisine frozen meal (5.5 points)

Supper: 12 in Subway ham and cheese on wheat w/ lots of veggies (I also gave a few pieces of the ham and cheese to my boys)

Snack: banana and almonds

I only ended up walking for 20 minutes last night :( I was all set to do my 1 hour walk with my friend...looking forward to it actually! But a bad storm was rolling in. We tried walking the opposite direction, but the lightening was all around us and the wind was blowing pretty hard so we headed for safety. We'll try again tonight!

Sore throat is gone! :)

Breakfast: oatmeal w/ pb and jam

Snack: banana and almonds

Lunch: salad with chicken (went to a luncheon with friends)

We didn't end up eating supper until late. I ran around like crazy yesterday and by the time I looked at the clock it was 5:45 (we normally eat at 4-4:30) and I didn't have a chance to go to the grocery store. So we ended up going to McD's for a quick supper. I normally have their chicken salad, but I wanted something different for supper. I figured a happy meal would be my best bet points-wise so I had a cheeseburger, small fry and diet coke. I still ended up staying within my points range!

I walked for 50 minutes last night. The friend that I normally walk with couldn't do it last night, but another friend called and said she'd walk with me instead. My calves are sore today though. It's been a few days since I've gotten a good long walk in.

We have got to stop eating out!!! This weekend was so busy and crazy, I was exhausted. I actually took a nap yesterday afternoon after grocery shopping. I did do a one hour walk last night and it was still very hot out at 8 pm and I sure did sweat!

Breakfast: shredded wheat/egg pancake w/ ketchup

Snack: almonds

Lunch: chicken burger w/ small slice of cheese and a salad

Supper: The boys had earned a treat this week and it was suppose to be to go to one of our favorite restaurants that has an indoor play area. I was going to have a slice of pizza and a salad or something else that was healthy. But we forgot that they're closed on Sunday. We ended up picking up pizza and bringing it home. I should have stopped at 2 slices, but I thought I was still hungry so I ate a 3rd. I started to feel very full and sick to my stomach before I even finished that slice :( I definitely won't be doing that again.

I have our meals planned out for the week so there shouldn't be any eating out for a while!

You know the good thing about that is.....you won't want pizza for a WHILE!!

Seriously I ate dessert on Saturday night when we went out. I haven't had anything sweet in 5 weeks. My stomach was upset all night until I went to bed. Makes me not want anything sweet for a LONG time!

You are doing great!!! Even with eating out, you're staying on points!!

That's very true Kim!! We've had leftover pizza sitting in our fridge for 2 days and I haven't eaten any :)

Had a good day yesterday...back on track.

Breakfast: oatmeal w/ pb and jam

Lunch: WW meal (only 2 points! it was good, but didn't fill me for very long)

Snack: almonds and walnuts and 2 plums

Supper: pork loin, brown rice and spinach

Snack: yogurt

Forgot to add that I was really hungry after my walk so I had a small bowl of mini shredded wheat with splenda and milk.

I walked for an hour last night with hand weights. Today I plan to get back to doing another workout in the morning.

I needed to add that I tried on an old pair of shorts yesterday. It's a pair that I haven't worn since I got pregnant with my 2nd child. Just a month ago I couldn't get them up over my behind. Yesterday I was able to get them fully on AND zip and snap them!! Granted, they're still very tight, but I was psyched. I'm really seeing my hardwork payoff :)

Breakfast: shredded mini wheats (plain) with splenda and milk

Snack: plum

Lunch: WW frozen meal (5 points)

Snack: handful of walnuts

Supper: I made eggplant parmesan for the first time and it was really good! I had a very small serving of pasta (low carb) with it and a huge salad. I was so full though that I couldn't finish.

This morning I did a 2 mile WATP (finally got the new 5 mile WATP DVD and did 2 segments) and a quick abs workout. I'm getting ready to go do my 1 hour walk.

:woohoo:

That is the BEST feeling, isn't it??? congrats!!!

Walked for an hour last night.

Breakfast: oatmeal w/ pb and jam

Lunch: out with friends...had risotto...shouldn't have but it was very, very yummy!

Supper: wasn't hungry but I had a salad with a few strips of steak on it

Snack: after my walk went to friend's house and had a starbucks iced coffee (in a glass container...she gets them shipped in)

I don't think I had any fruit yesterday :(

You are doing awesome girl!! I've been trying to get my workouts in too... would be easier if I weren't working. I find that working out in the morning/early afternoon, is better for me. Anyway, we got an exercise bike, and I love it. Kicks my butt though! :thumbsup2 So far, I've lost 17 pounds! I'm starting to notice a difference in my body, so that is good. I remember the last time I tried to lose weight (on Atkins) it took a while to lose inches over pounds. Guess I'm finally at that point. Woot! Will check back w/you tomorrow!

You're doing really great Carissa! :thumbsup2
