Planned a last minute trip to stay at ASMU suites for the 5 of us. Well, being self-employed business is down right now, so to still be able to go we needed to cut corners. We did some research, used the mousesavers site and found out we could get a suite at Caribe Royale and park hoppers for the same price as just the ASMU suite. No dining this time, but with as hot as it is we normally don't eat as much as in winter time. We leave in less than a week and I am hoping we are making a good decision. We haven't stayed off property in years so I am a little nervous!!!
According to the hotel they were renovated just last year. Has anyone stayed there recently? I looked but couldn't find any reviews?!?!:confused3

We haven't stayed there recently (2002) but I recommended Caribe Royale to a friend. She just got back and can't thank me enough! She said the hotel is beautiful, the kids loved the pool, and the accomodations were perfect for their family of 6. (they stayed in a suite)
Hope that helps!

We drove by there in June and I though "Wow!". It looked great from the outside. Have you looked at reviews on Tripadvisor? It's rated 3.5 traveler's rating, recent reviews are mixed. The pics make it look pretty nice.

We haven't stayed recently, but when we did stay the rooms were fantastic.

Great pool areas, great restaurants...food area.

We loved it and definately would book there agian. Very close to disney entrance.

We stayed there about a year and a half ago.

Hotel was beautiful, room itself was awesome, the food was way overpriced and just very mediocre, the staff were rude and the park transportation was awful. :sad1:

I don't know anything about the place, but have heard it was nice! Be very careful--We were in Orlando Memorial Day week and 2 Orange county deputies were shot in the parking lot. They tried to stop 3 men who were breaking into a car and things got rough. One of the deputies would have been killed if not for his bullet-proof vest. Not trying to scare you--just informing you to stay alert!!

We were just there this past Friday & Saturday. It was wonderful! The pool is awesome and the slide was so much fun. The room was great. We were in a 1 bedroom suite. I'd stayed at the Buena Vista Resort, right next door, in the past, but this was way better. In fact, as we were checking out, we got an offer to come back for 3 nights, 4 days and 1-day park ticket for 2 adults for $99. Of course, we have to sit thru a timeshare preview for Vistana Village, but I'll put up with 90 minutes of BS to get that room for $99.

I used the Mousesavers code also and only paid $109 + tax for each night. It was definately worth that.

I did see Orange County deputies patrolling during the day when we would be going out. I felt very safe.

Thanks so much Dis'ers for the feedback! I am starting to feel much better now.
We have booked a one bedroom suite, with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa that makes into a full size bed. That should be plenty of room for the 5 of us. The only thing I am really going to miss are the 2 bathrooms that the ASMU suites has. But for $99 a night (thank you mousesavers), we should be able to manage!
As for the incident with the police officers getting shot, that is pretty scary. But to be honest that can happen anywhere.

Here's a link to pics posted from Caribe Royale and my BoardWalk Inn stay this past weekend.

Sorry I don't have any pics of the Caribe rooms, but they very nice. The beds were comfortable. And a queen will beat out double beds at Disney any day!!
