Caribe Royale transportation question

My DH and I will be staying at the Caribe for a convention and my question is concerning transportation. I understand that their shuttle leaves a little to be desired. Since we will not have a rental car, does anyone know how much a taxi would be to Downtown Disney? We are so used to staying on property, I don't know how to act with offsite hotels. I'm like a fish out of water.

RENT A CAR. How are you going to get from the airport to CaribeRoyale? For what you're going to spend on airport transfers and cabs you might as well just rent a car.

I don't think the cab ride is much more than $10-$12. You might take the hotel shuttle in the morning and grab a cab back.

Whenever we go to WDW, we never rent a car and use a towncar or taxi to get to our hotel. Its our way of RELAXING. When at Disney, use their transportation.

You're not going to want to rely on offsite shuttle transportation. A rental car would probably save you money but if you want to RELAX take a cab to get back to your hotel. You can ask at Caribe Royale but I think MGM is the closest theme park and either POP or CBR is the closest resort. You might save some money if you don't take a cab from the MK or AK but use Disney transportion to get closer to your hotel.

Thats exactly what I want to do. Get to Downtown Disney and then I can take Disney transportation after that. I will just start saving my pennies (dollars) for cab fare.

NO, DTD buses don't go to the main theme parks. Either take a cab to Epcot/Studios or to one of the closer resorts.

There is also your time to consider. Hailing a cab *and* waiting for a bus is going to take quite a bit of time. For just a few dollars more, you can continue your cab ride to your intended destination.

If you combine end-to-end cab trips with the Caribe's shuttle when it works for you, it probably won't be much more expensive than taking "short" cab rides plus busses, but it will be much more convenient.

How long is this trip for?? Just a few days? Then I guess I might taxi it, but I don't like staying on-site OR off-site without a car.

I think most people on this board have their own car, or rent a car.......at least that is my impression over the years. Some use shuttles, but there aren't too many off site places that have a "great" shuttle system. I don't know about CR. Have you called the resort to see what their schedule is??

Using a taxi is going to be more expensive, but that's the price you pay for relaxation, I guess.

Good point, even if the cab ride is an extra $10.
