Caribbean Beach Resort - pool out of order...

I'm traveling to Disney in May with my girlfriend and was seriously considering a stay at the CB resort. One thing I was told is that the Old Port Royal pool is out of order (renovations). The problem is that the pool bar is located near the main pool...

I'm sure that my girlfriend and I would frequent this bar on our vacation and don't want to walk a great distance to get there from a different pool.

I'm sure this seems minor to most, but it's the kind of thing that almost makes me want to stay at a different resort. The problem is that I've never been to the CB resort; and was wondering if someone could offer their opinion on this subject. Am I going to have to walk a mile if I'm laying near a different pool?

Hmm...

Even though we're huge CBR fans... the closure of the main pool and priority of the pool bar would be a huge "deal breaker" for us.

While each village does have a quiet pool, the walk from any of these pools to the pool bar (if it's even open, not sure) will be a pretty good walk. Martinque would be the closest, and even then it's about a 3-5min walk depending on your speed. Expect 5-10+ minute walks from any other quiet pool.

I'd consider CSR or POR if the pool bar was a priority to us. Besides, save your CBR 1st trip for when the new pool opens! It'll make your first trip that much more special!

It's not a bad walk if you are staying in some of the villages at CBR. If you don't want to do much walking then I suggest staying at another resort until the pool redo is over.

We are in the begining stage of booking our yearly trip to Disney. We are going Sept 15 - 20th. I am on the fence as to staying either at ASMovies or CBR. I just saw that the main pool at CBR is closed until Sept 15. What are the chances of this being delayed. I dont want to stay at CBR if the pools is closed. This happened to us 2 years ago at ASMovies and we were disappointed to the fact that the main pool was closed as we paid for the preferred room so we had use of the main pool.

We considered switching to CBR because we can get the free WP & PH upgrade there and not at POFQ. I don't think we'll do it because of the pool being closed. I like to sit out and have a drink while dh takes the kids swimming. We may have to try CBR next time however, because the pics look so nice

We usually like to stay at the CBR. But because of the pool renovation we are considering the POR. It will be a good 5-10 min walk to the pool bar to a quiet pool. My biggest concern would not be the initial walk, but if you want a refill Since it is your first trip to CBR my recommendation would be to wait for another time. The renovation will not give the resort the proper justice is deserves.
