Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

Hi, Can someone tell me why the preferred locations are "preferred"... Looking on the map they seem so far away.... ?

Thanks all.

The preferred locations (Martinique 24, 25, 26 and Trinidad North 31, 32, 33) are actually closer to Old Port Royale than the other buildings. The preferred location just means they're closer to OPR than the others.

Interestingly, Martinique 21, 22, 23 are not preferred, nor are Jamaica or Aruba, but none of them are too too far from OPR either.

We have stayed preferred both times just to guarantee we won't be too far from OPR because we use the refillable mugs A LOT, but I don't think any of the buildings I listed are too awfully far from OPR, to be honest.

Just Back From CBR

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mom, my daughters, and I just returned from a great Disney vacation. CBR was wonderful as usual! We stayed in Jamaica, Room 4404, and it was a perfect location for us. The bus stop was right across the parking lot and was very convenient for us. We never waited more than 15 minutes and most of the time it was 5 minutes.

The room was very clean, and the maids did an excellent job every day cleaning. We did get one towel animal and my daughters (ages 20 and 17) were thrilled.

We used the main pool every afternoon, and we enjoyed it very much. The food court was good but we only ate there three times. We bought the mugs for $11.99 and used them every day.

The CBR grounds were beautiful. We love all the beautiful tropical flowers, trees, and plants. The music being played throughout the CBR grounds is great too. We, also, love feeding the ducks, and as usual, they were quite friendly and happy to eat out of our hands.

If anyone has any questions, please just ask.

To be honest, there was absolutely nothing negative about our resort stay. Everything was perfect. The grounds were beautiful; the main pool was very enjoyable every afternoon; the food court was always clean and there was alot of variety for my family; the bus service was excellent; the ducks were very friendly; the rooms were exceptionally clean and the staff very friendly and helpful; and the gift shop was well stocked and excellent. One evening we sat outside by the Jamaica beach and watched the Epcot fireworks. The older my daughters get, the more appreciative they get of going to Disney and CBR. This was a very magical vacation for us and everything was perfect.

We could not have asked for a better week - the temperature was around 91 every day and the humidity was not horrendous. We went to all early entries and we had very short waits for the rides and shows. It was a great week.

Welcome back!
Glad you had a great time.
I can not wait to go to WDW and stay at CBR.
Do they sell food to feed the ducks?

I've noticed in a few posts that you can see fireworks from some of the beaches. Can you watch them from every village? If not, which ones can you definitely see the fireworks?

Could some tell me if there is a coffee pot and refrigerator in each room? Also, is the coffee pot clean??!! Do they supply the coffee??

Thanks - Lori

Yes, there's a coffee pot and refrigerator in every room and they're clean. In fact, we've found everything to be very clean!

And yes, they do supply the coffee.

I would love to hear some reviews on Shutters please. Thanks.

We were here recently had wings and salmon in our party and both were good. We stayed at this resort back on 2004 and I remember the food being better then. But it was still good on our last trip. Have a great time. :wizard:

Hope someone can answer this... Can anyone tell me about the new DSA's? It looks like there are a lot of them and I wondered if they were in high traffic areas or really near rooms. I have a severe allergy and didn't know if I should request a room away from a DSA.
I asked this question already in the DSA thread and haven't gotten an answer, thought someone who just got back might have taken notice of the locations.
TIA

We watched the fireworks from the Jamaica beach in 2006. This past June, we watched them from Old Port Royale. Of course, you can't see the low fireworks but you can see most of the high ones.

They do have coffee pots and refrigerators in the rooms. The coffee pot was clean when we arrived. Some days, mousekeeping would wash out the pot. On others, we did it. Every day, mousekeeping left us coffee packets as well as sugar, sweeteners and creamer.

Here's a link to a map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/CBMapFront.pdf

It appears there's a DSA at each and every building except Jamaica 46, but that could just be an omission, too.

Your very best bet is don't fret. Simply place a request on your reservation to NOT be near a DSA. If you have several requests, put them in order of preference.

It will be MUCH better for you to put this in your request than name specific buildings or room numbers. If those buildings or room numbers aren't available, the room assigner can't psychically know why you chose those places, and will just stick you in any old room, which could land you a stone's throw from an ashtray if you're unlucky.

Just put in a request on your reservation to not be near a DSA and you should be just fine.

We also saw fireworks from our Aruba Bldg. parking lot.

Thanks for the link Eric. I have already spent a good deal of time trying to decipher the map, but having never been to CBR the map isn't all that useful. For example if you look at the AKL map you'll see a DSA on the sidewalk out front. What we didn't know was that you HAD to pass through it to get to the Bus Stop. So I guess my question is really about interpretation of the map. Are most of these spots in courtyards or at main stairwells or are they easily avoided? And if we had a 2nd story room over one of these would it be a problem? I'm not really obsessing::rotfl: Just trying to be aware.

I love all the lovely photos that have been posted. It looks like a beautiful resort. I was just wondering what it looks like at night and if any of you had any pictures you could post for me? I love walking along water and was wondering if there are a lot of lights reflected in the water at night, and what the pathways look like, and the lights on the buildings at night. Are there lights on the beach? Nighttime is my favorite time of day, so peaceful, and was hoping y'all could fill me in. Thanks!:goodvibes

We ate at Shutters last year. It was good. The drinks were good. I think I had a Bahama Mama.;) The one thing I really remember was that the Coconut Shrimp on the appetizer menu were excellent!:thumbsup2
