Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

From DisneyWorld.com:
Dive into fun at any of the 6 heated pools located throughout the island villages. Or enjoy a swashbuckling adventure at the zero-depth-entry feature pool at Old Port Royale, with shooting water cannons, 2 12-person spas and 2 water slides, including an 82-foot-long slide that goes through the Fuentes del Morro Fort and ends in the pool. An aqua play area for children features squirt hoses, a large bucket that drops water from above and 3 slides.

Hope this helps!

I wondered if it was the same description, but it now says zero entry and that is new.

Have fun!!

The old pool slide was straight, small, and boring. The description of an 82 foot slide that goes through ANYTHING makes it spectacularly brand-new.

There's nothing about the description of the new pool (or the construction photos) that reminds me of the old one, except for the facade of the fort.

I just wanted to thank everyone on here that has shared their information and experiences about Caribbean Beach. I've been reading this site for months but never commented, or asked questions, but wanted to register to say thanks!

We just got back yesterday from a 6 night stay at CBR. We were upgraded from regular room to Trinidad North, which was only a short walk from the pool, food, etc...I was originally a bit disappointed that we weren't over in Jamaica or Aruba, where we requested, but found TN to be so convenient. I went on several walks just to get the feel of the bridge, music, etc...so I didn't miss out...

Overall, room was very nice..housekeeping so so....no towel animals, a rude housekeeper on the phone when I called to request a plastic sheet for the bed (a second time)...but the atmosphere was fantastic..

Also crowds were wonderful, pools both quiet and the new pool were great! We have nothing bad to say...

Thanks again for all your input over the months...I hope that I can answer any questions for someone else if you need any info!

Now I just need to convince my husband to return in a year or two again!

I'm a bit excited and scared this will be our 1st stay at CBR.
We just returned from WDW and Booked the FD Bounceback
for next fall at CBR and requested Pirate Room. CBR is the last of
the MODs that we haven't stay at.
I'm excited about the room because it will be newly remodeled and
Cool but am worried about the distance because it will be in TS.
I am determained to try to be positive no matter how tired I am,
plus I didn't not over schedule our next year trip so we will be spending
more time at the resort. Everyother day at the Parks and a little something
in the Evenings on the days we spend at the Resort.
I'm sure we'll be fine.
I can't wait. It's fun to plan a new trip whenever you just get back
from one because it helps with the sadness.

Trinadad South was a bit of a walk it seemed, but a beautiful one. We saw many people that were walking from there, and everyone seemed content. I think you will be fine, and you will enjoy the walk...the flowers, birds and boats are a great distraction from the distance...

My mother will be renting a scooter for our upcoming Feb trip to CBR. While she is not wheelchair bound, she will need this scooter for the week with all of the walking that will be done. Anyhow, can you be guaranteed a ground level room because you have a scooter? And, when would the best time to request it be? (I have heard CBR has no elevators, is this correct?)

Thanks!

We have always requested Aruba 51 or 52 or Jamaica 45, 46 or 44. All three of these are 5 minute walks to Old Port Royale...just dance your way over the bridge and island to the Caribbean Music. Fantastic location without having to pay for preferred.

Glad to read this, as I requested Jamaica or Aruba. :goodvibes However, I don't think I will care where my room may end up! Looking forward to peaceful, morning walks and enjoying the atmosphere of this resort:flower3:

We are going to be at CBR Nov.22-28 after upgrading from POP we have a few questions after reading about 1/3 of this board.

1) We are going to request connecting rooms with my in-laws for medical reasons, do all buildings have connecting rooms? If so what do you think about requesting buildings 52 or 53? They seem to offer the middle ground by being close to bridge and to the bus stop.

2) Are all rooms getting refurbished? If so will they all be completed prior to our arrival in Novemeber?

3) I know people say get the tie-dyed cheese cake at POP, what is the must have food at CBR?
:cool1:

You should call and have your reservation noted with the fact she is using a scooter. They may be able to call guest services to make sure you get a ground floor room.

Yes all buildings have some connecting rooms.

All rooms are getting refurbished. The are working in Barbabos now. It looks like Aruba would be next but no guarantee on that.

Can't think of any special food at CBR.

Which villages have been refubished already?

Where can I find out more information about the renovations?

Martinique and Barbados have been done. There are pictures throughout this FAQ. I have some in the first post also.

Hi All!
Safetymom asked me to post this here and I am glad to help. All the great info I got from this thread really helped me when it came to choosing CBR. If you are on the fence about the resort.........Go for It!!!:yay:

Just returned from 5 nights at CBR on Friday. Arrived at 3 pm last Sunday. A room had not been assigned, however, they were able to accomodate my request for a 1st floor room in Martinque. We paid for a preferred location room (room 2530). Excellent location close to everything. I would not have been happy had I been at some of the out lying island complexes - but that is personal preference. The whole complex has impeccable well maintained grounds.
Our "Nemo" room was spotless and we had good housekeeping all week. My only small complaint would be that the blower is always on in the air conditioning unit even is the cool air kicks off. We actually ended up freezing the room before we went to bed - then turning it off and using the ceiling fan. In the morning we turned it back on and it cooled down rapidly. Small complaint. No biggie.
Food Court was clean and well staffed. We stayed at Riverside last time we were in WDW. The food at CBR was well prepared but I liked the choices at Riverside better. I loved their made to order salads and pasta dishes. I am sure it is just a matter of time before CBR gets an updated food court and then it will be darn near perfect.
Great store in Port Royale. Nice for browsing. Loved Banana Cabana. Great bartenders, ice cold draft beer and sports on TV. Wish I had time to spend a couple of nights there!
What can you say about the pool. It is lovely. I may be old but I went on those water slides again and again. Pool is a good depth for all ages. I can't say enough about the lifeguards in Disney. They are awesome! I am a nut around water even though both my kids are good swimmers. But after watching those guards the first night I was actually able to relax and only keep one eye on my kids! (I think I even read some of my magazine - they must be good!!). Unforunately, the only issue we had was a "bio hazard" in the water our first night. I'm not sure what the answer is to this problem. Not to be gross but my kids wore swimmy diapers and I know that there was nothing between this floater and some kids heinie. Why some folks think it is ok for their kids to go without swim diapers is beyond me. Someone told me the same thing had happened the day before. I don't know what the answer is. On our Disney cruise my DD refused to be potty trained and she was not allowed in the big pool. I guess you could never enforce that in a resort pool - but I would love to give those parents who think the rules aren't for their kids a piece of my mind. (Maybe Disney could leave complimentary swim diapers beside the pool...just an idea!) Anyway, the pool was reopened in about 45 minutes and we didn't have the problem again. With the water slides etc. I can understand why the big pool closes at 10 pm and we very much enjoyed our late night swims in the quiet pool.
Bus service was ok...not fantastic just ok. We never waited a long time but we did see people complain about some busses taking forever to get there and then 3 of them coming right in a row. Saw a couple of guests using the phone to complain. We made out all right but we were laughing when the bus driver would bring us to a park and try to tell us where we picked up the return bus....we would look at each other and remark that it would be the furthest one from the exit!!! Again, no biggie.
All and all I wouldn't hesitate to stay at CBR again. Even DH who really doesn't love Disney said that CBR was very peaceful and quiet. High praise from him! We will be back!

Thank you for the nice review. :) We just love CBR, even though we do not stay there every visit, but it's always nice to go back.

As we always say. a real "vacation within a vacation".

(p.s we've been in the corner room near you twice (1st and 2nd floor) - nice lake view and very close to OPR. :) )

Thank you for the review. So CBR does not have made-to-order salads like POR? I noticed some salads on the menu and wasn't sure if we could alter them or if they were pre-made. Also, has CBR added a child area (to color, etc.) in the food court yet (like POR has)? Someone commented that they had removed it, but I was hoping it was just temporary.
