Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

We have a trip planned 9/4 - 9/7 and will be staying at CBR. Its our first time at CBR (at any resort other than a Value) and all this talk of "reconstruction" has me worried. Will there be any pools open the weekend we are there?? When is the new pool supposed to open? I heard mid September. Thanks for any info! :)

It looks like all of the pools will be open by then. The main pool appears to be ahead of schedule -- so it should open before the end of August. The other pools have all been open during the main pool construction with a children's slide installed on at least one of the quiet pools. There really isn't any "reconstruction," it is remodeling of the interiors of several buildings. Some have been completed and others are planned on a building by building schedule.

Thanks for the good news!! Can't wait! :)

Does anyone know when all the nemo rooms will be done? We are looking at a March travel time. It sounded like they were starting with the preferred locations, so I am wondering if we have to book a preferred room to guarantee a renovated one.

No question, no new information, just my own celebration!! I booked our rooms for next June 13-21 at CBR!!!!! You know, it's great to be at WDW, no matter where we stay, but we sure did miss being at CBR on our recent visit! There's just something about the beaches and hammocks and music overhead that we all love! In fact, on a bus as we passed CBR last week, I pointed it out to my two teenage sons, and they both smiled so big! We're just excited to be heading back again!!

Hello,

We will be staying at CBR Sept. 20th to the 27th. :thumbsup2 Can anyone point me in the right direction for info on having groceries delivered to the resort. I'm clueless on how to do this.:confused3

I have a King Size Bed for our stay at CBR Sept 12-17 :cool1: and was wondering if it would be too much to request a 1st floor room in Jamaica. Also, I booked through a TA and wasn't sure if I requested this to her or to Disney directly. Any assistance is appreciated!!

Hey, go for it in making that request ... why not???!!!

But the request must go through your TA. Right now, you don't have a reservation at Disney World. Your TA has a reservation at Disney World in your name ... she owns the reservation and you do not; you won't own it until you check-in at your resort's front desk. Legally, you have no more right to put a request on your reservation than I do!

However, if you have a decent TA, she'll be happy to put your request in for you.

Just as an FYI ... not that you asked ...
Even though you booked through a TA, you can still make dining reservations yourself, if you want. Dining reservations aren't tied into resort reservations, they're tied into your home telephone number (or whatever telephone number you supply to them).

There are 3 grocery delivery services:

www.goodings.com

www.gardengrocer.com

www.wegoshop.com

Gooding's is a local market that also delivers. Despite what looks like a limited on their website, they'll deliver anything they stock on their shelves, except alcohol. They are generally considered the most expensive supermarket in the area. They deliver to your resort's Bell Services, not to you. That way, you don't have to schedule a time and then sit around and wait for them. Bell Services even keeps the cold stuff cold.

Garden Grocer and WeGoShop both are stand-alone grocery delivery services. WeGoShop will schedule a time to deliver directly to you in your room. Garden Grocer prefers to do it that way, also, but upon request they'll deliver in the manner that Gooding's does.

Question ... staying at CBR in October, I thought there was only a fridge in the rooms. Is there a common area with grills or something like that which would make having groceries delivered worth it ? We are on a tight budget so any tips are very much appreciated.

No ... no grills.

It's been my experience, at least the way my family eats, that the easiest meal to have in the room is breakfast. We get a grocery delivery and get stuff like cold cereal, milk, OJ, yogurt, fresh fruit, cheese sticks, deli-sliced cheese, bagels, PB, jelly, bread, instant oatmeal packets (you can heat the water in the coffee maker!), bottled water, some soda and some junk food.

We generally, have breakfast in the room. We've also brown-bagged lunch a few times (took them into one of the theme parks), making sandwiches with deli-sliced turkey or lunch meat (also delivered) and so on.

Some of the counter-service meals (some, but by no means all) are large enough to share, maybe or maybe not with the addition of an additonal side dish.

You can go to www.gardengrocer.com and place your order. THen you can pick delivery to a WDW resort, pick your resort and it will put in the address, ;) We are using this service for the first time in a few days I will let you know how it goes. We opted for a late delivery since our plane comes in at 7 I figure the groceries can be waiting for us when we are there.

Hi :wave2: I was going to start a new thread to ask a question, but found this thread so I'll try asking here first. I was wondering about using a laptop at CBR. do they offer wireless, in the rooms or anywhere at the resort? Also is there a cost, per use or per day or do you have to pay for everyday you are there? Don't even have the laptop yet so don't even know exactly how this works, but if they don't have wirelss, what else can we do? :goodvibes

Also, do the rooms still have fridges in them? They did last Nov but seeing the new nemo rooms made me wonder. didn't see any fridge in it anymore unless it's part of the dresser stand the tv is on. Btw, I really liked the old cabinet the tv was in, we used the shelves and top couple drawers to keep track of keys, pamphlets, tickets, etc - we will miss that. Wonder why they took those out, they were quite nice. doesn't seem as much room for stuff with the ice bucket up behind the tv. that used to be on the fridge, that's what tipped me off about the fridge. actually, they could have saved money and kept the cabinets and used towards new carpeting!

Thanks for any answers!

As of my last stay at CBR (07/08) wired access (c.1.5 Mbps) was $9.95 per each 24 hour period. I heard rumors of Wi-Fi access, but was unable to confirm or find it. Returning to CBR August 31 - Sept. 11, I hope the main pool rehab is finished. Also, bring 10-15 ft. network cables as some rooms have unusually short ones.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate all the help you guys (and gals :goodvibes ) have given me.
