We are looking at a possible Disney trip next year with a group of people. Most of the group is somewhat budget minded. One family would like a room for 5 people which makes things much more limited since most Disney rooms are based around a 4 person occupancy.

Despite the construction I was thinking CBR might be the best option. We would likely be looking at June of 2018. By that time should most of the CBR restaurants be reopened ? What would likely still be closed by next June ?

Construction is slated to go through 2019, AFAIK, so there's really no telling where in the process they will be at that point. FWIW, this is from the CBR thread:

**Beginning May 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 (dates subject to change as are all things at WDW) the resort will be undergoing a major refurbishment. The following information was provided to Disney Travel Agents:

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort:
Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post will be closed

There will be a variety of dining options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Centertown, a dining location, will serve an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet for breakfast and dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be conveniently available for purchase in three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the Resort. Additional a la carte offerings will be available at mobile food vending locations. Our in-room dining will remain available. Any work most likely to cause a noise impact will not begin until 9:00 a.m.

It's impossible to know for sure. If you choose to book CBR, make sure you will be okay with any construction inconvenience. If not, I think it is best to just book POR and know you have the options that are important to you.

I have not made it a secret that my family does not like construction inconvenience, and we avoid it at all costs. We had no idea that something as insignificant to most folks as the QS restaurant closure would be problematic to us, but it turns out it was. For most folks there would not even be a blip on their radar. IF you think your family will be impacted by any of the construction, not just dining options, don't use the resort as part of your budget compromise. There are other ways to save money that will not leave you with buyers remorse.
