My nabor's aunt just returned from WDW two weeks ago, according to her the they closed half of the Caribbean Beach Resort due to low numbers, I'm not saying its true but what doyouguys know about this?

Seems like I heard on the podcast or read somewhere on the DIS a couple weeks ago that they were going to close part of CBR for remodeling. That resort does need a re-do!

I hope it's not closing because of lack of guest. I that was not right when I heard it.

Having just spent a week at WDW staying at CBR, I can definately dispell the rumor that rooms are closed due to lack of attendance. In fact, when we checked in we were told only rooms with single, king-size beds were available, even though we had requested two double beds. The reason? A computer glitch a month ago caused the reservations department to over-book the resort by 400 rooms for the week we were there! Had we come a few hours later, we would have been moved to the Coronado. What we did notice, however, is that the pool area is closed unitl September (I think I had heard this on the podcast, too). While the construction does not affect any of the guest rooms, it is my understanding that the popularity for this resort is lower than usual with the main pool closed. We stayed with a cast discount that was a much greater discount than those offered for the other moderate resorts.

I know Disney has to do rehabs, but to close a main pool at a resort for the whole summer? June to September? I know I wouldn't be too happy if I were staying at CBR.

Closing the main pool at CBR to rebuild it with a much bigger pool is so worth it. That has been the main complaint at that resort.

There is never a good time to close the pool but the new pool complex is going to be great. You can view pictures of the pool construction in the first post of the CBR FAQ thread. Link is below.

I love Caribbean Beach, last time I stayed there was for Christmas 2004 it would be a pity if it will close.. I think it's a nice resort, with all that caribbean music and colours it just makes me happy:)

Have to agree here. CBR has always seemed like the "step-child" of moderate resorts. Any upgrades are welcome and needed despite the inconvenience and untimliness.
