Born to be a princess: Congrats on your great trip. I seen your parents are planning on going back- disney just came out with a free dining promo up until December 17th. This gave me an excuse to book my second solo trip.

We really loved OPR. In fact, DH said he would never stay at POP again, and my parents are already planning a trip back for later this year (this was their first trip to WDW) and are planning to stay at CBR, even though I suggested that they could stay at a deluxe...they said they liked CBR so much that they want to stay there again.

Welcome back! :goodvibes Thanks for the awesome review. So glad CBR worked out so great for you and your family!

We will be staying at CBR in August during free dining. I am wondering if we bring an inflatable air mattress (DD's prefer their own space when sleeping - LOL), will there be enough room in a standard room for this? If so, would housekeeping provide us with some extra sheets/blankets/pillows? Would this arrangement be acceptable?

We took a twin air mattress to CBR in January and there was plenty of room. We took our own sheet and blanket for it. During the day we would just stand it up on it's side and put it between the bed and the bathroom wall.

OP- check your parets ressie. If they paid for a King they paid an upcharge. Unless you got a waterview or pirate room they received less than they paid for and I'd look for a credit.

Glad CBR worked out for the family. We are headed back soon!

I'll have to look at that. I think I only requested it, but I'll look at the invoice to be sure. Thanks!

Just for your future reference ...

At CBR, king-size bed is a bookable room category that costs more per night. Merely requesting it means that you're in line behind everybody who reserved and paid extra for it. And even if they're not all sold out, it's asking for a free upgrade, which can't be counted on.

Secondly, there is no such thing as a room with 2 king-size beds. Doesn't exist. In fact, unless you're talking about MAYBE a 2-bedroom suite at a Deluxe, there's no such thing as a room with 2 king-size beds in all of Walt Disney World. CBR rooms have either one king-size bed or 2 double beds, no other combinations.

Oops -- that was a typo on my part -- I requested a room with a king sized bed for them, not two. LOL!

Born 2 be a princess. Glad you had a great trip. Thanks for the review.

It really was great -- can't wait to go back!

Born 2B a Princess: So glad that you enjoyed your CBR stay. I've always put in a request for a specific village when we stayed there but have decided to not ask this go-round. Sounds like Barbados was a great place for you guys to stay. Now I am hoping to give that village a try.

Buses service to DTD and back from ANY resort is notoriously bad.

Thanks for your review!

We really were happy with Barbados. It was lovely and quiet and the bus stop was close to our building, as was the quiet pool. We enjoyed it. I think we would enjoy any village, really.

Thanks -- I just saw that, too, so I'm going to let them know. :goodvibes

It really was great. All of the information I got from this board/thread was very helpful!

Trying to plan next years trip. We have stayed at POP, POFQ and POLY and would love to return to the POLY but I'm not sure I can justify the cost. Looking at CBR as a possibility but worried about the larger size. I am sure if we did stay there we would pay for a preferred room. How far is the walk from the preferred rooms to Old Port Royale?

Also, my children will be 11 and 14 at the time of next year's trip. They love the slide at the POLY. How long is the longest slide at the new pool?

Some of the preferred rooms are right next door to OPR, so the walk is less than 5 minutes. We stayed in Martinique 23 (not preferred), and our walk was less than 10 minutes with two kids. I am not sure I would pay preferred prices, but if it is really important to you to be about 5 minutes or less to OPR, then you will want to book preferred to guarantee the room.

My kids absolutely loved the slide at the pool. My DH even liked it. I have never stayed at the POLY, so can't comment on the comparison of the length, but it was fun and winded around quite a bit.

There are two slides in the pool at CBR. I went down one of them twice and it is really fun! One is open and the other one is a tunnel type slide. (I did the tunnel slide). It is longer than it looks too! The little ones have a blast in the kids pool with the tip bucket and the smaller slides.

Is it worth it for me to pay for a pefered room it would be a extra 200.00? Also where is the first bus stop at CBR? We have stayed at SSR before in the grandstand and it never bothered me to walk. Not sure if CBR is bigger.
Thanks

I've stayed at CBR, POFQ and Polynesian.

Polynesian and CBR are of similar size. If you are in the Tahiti longhouse (where I was a few months ago), it can be a pretty long walk to the Great Ceremonial House.

Using my favorite runners website, I clocked the distance from the far end of Tahiti to the entrance to Capt. Cook's, and it's a similar distance as from the far reaches of CBR to the CBR food court.

So if you've ever stayed in Tahiti before (at Poly), you won't be put off by the long walks at CBR.

But nothing beats the very very short walks at POFQ.

I'm curious about the room #'s and locations. I know that the first two numbers in your room indicate what building you're in (ex: 2501 indicates building 25 in Martinique), but what numbers begin the 2nd floor rooms?

Will be at CBR in a pirate room in 4 short days. I am so excited, this thread has been wonderful in my planning process. I will post our thoughts when we return home!! :yay::yay:

How long will you be staying? We'll be there in just 7 days! We aren't checking out until the 15th.

We are going to have one -- maybe two -- strollers, as well as a 5yr old and a newborn. So I am not crazy about the prospect of having to run up and down the stairs all the time. On the other hand, my wife is concerned about the noise from above if we take a bottom floor. Anyone have any bad experiences with footsteps/noise from above when staying on the ground level?

We've stayed in upstairs once and downstairs twice. Never ever had a problem with noise on either level.

I agree with Mickeystoontown -- we've stayed upstairs once (no problems with noise) and downstairs twice (never a problem with noise). You'll love CBR!!! One of the things we love is how quiet the room areas are!:thumbsup2

Check out date 8/9. Already very sad to talk about check out. :sad1:

Maybe we'll run into each other. I'll have my lime green Mickey head luggage tag on our backpack. There's a picture of my family and I in the first post of my trip report. If you see me, feel free to stop me. I'd love to meet other Disers! Lisa

Does anyone have any ideas on this? :confused3
