Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

I can't possibly read it all, but this is a great thread. Our trip starts Jan 4, so I have a question. Probably more later... My family (me, DH, DD6, DD2, DD1) are going with my parents. We have asked that our reservations be connected or whatever. My mom recently broke her femur (running a marathon) and is still using a walker. I'm not sure what she'll be doing by then, but I'm sure she won't be 100%. I've been battling plantar fasciitis for the past 6 months or so. I've been doing everything I can (podiatrist, sports doctor, chiropractor, orthotics, stretches, etc) and now I'm in a walking boot (soft cast thing) for the next few weeks trying to get my stupid foot to heal so I don't die at Disney.

So, my longwinded question is, what should we say when we request locations? I don't care about stairs and I don't care (too much) how close we'll be to the main building because we're planning breakfast in our rooms. My mom really shouldn't do stairs. If she mentions her injury do you think they'll have compassion and give her a 1st floor room? I guess my main request should be near a bus stop and my mom's should be 1st floor?

I'm so excited for this trip. We've been planning it since my DD6 was 1 and I have refused to cut my 2 year old's hair until we get there. We really can't cancel this trip, she looks awful! :rotfl: I hope my mom and I can walk! Ugh.

We requested a first floor room for my mom since she had double knee surgery and was still having a tough time with stairs. They also upgraded us to Martinique 24 with a 1st floor room!

I am going to call today as well to ask for a first floor room....DH is having knee issues and it would just be easier for him not to take the stairs.

I am in the final stages of packing as we leave tomorrow and I have a question about what is provided in the room.....iron? blow dryer? I would love to not have to pack these things to make room for other things...we drive but there is still limited space.

Thanks for any help!

Ok sorry one more question....we are in the pirate rooms which I know are a bit of a walk from the Custom House where you check in....my question is...is there ANY parking by Trinidad? Can you bring your own bags to your room? If you can't what is the appropriate tip for the bellman?

Thanks again....so excited to get there!!!

Well, I knew it; I should never have gone anywhere else, but at least now I know, that CBR is my absolute favorite and it will be nearly impossible to get me to stay anywhere else. We stayed at POFQ and while it is a nice enough resort, it doesn't have the tropical feel, DH missed his morning jog along CBR's walkways (POFQ just didn't lend itself to the jogging atmosphere, more like a lazy afternoon stroll); the pool was much more geared towards younger children where CBR's appeals to all ages; the food court, OMG CBR far outweighs it by a mile!!!!! The CMs are friendlier at CBR, the food is a better selection, and the drink area is much better maintained!!!!! At 10:00 at night, at CBR walk right up and fill 'er up!!!; at POFQ you stand and wait as your cup tries to fill with ice, 1 tiny piece at a time. It just wasn't CBR, and we don't think we'll go back there. But DH wanted to try something new, just to see if we'd like it, and boy there is no place like home!!!

Your story is exactly why I can't make myself try another resort. I don't think that I'd hate another resort but I don't think I'd love it like I do the CBR.

CBR is awesome place to stay! I love it! I need to know which island does the bus stop first?

This makes me very :yay: Our last visit was at POFQ and we LOVED it...we wanted to try the pirate rooms this time and you have made me soooo happy to know that CBR is so well loved!

Can you do airline check-in at OPR? Print boarding passes, etc? :confused3 If so, I didn't know this.

We used the concierge desk in OPR to check-in with SW and they did print out boarding passes for us.

We were not using Disney's Magical Express.

That is why I keep chickening out of trying another resort.

Luv CBR

We felt the same exact way when we stayed at POFQ after staying at CBR. Not that we hated POFQ, we just felt it was lacking compared to CBR. The pool and the food court definitely, among other things! I'm sure we will continue to try other resorts (at least every other trip) but it's always nice to know that CBR is there and we can go back anytime and we enjoy it so much! :goodvibes

Seeing all these pics has made me excited for our trip! This will be our first trip at this resort, second time at a moderate. Cannot wait! :cool1::thumbsup2:cool1:

Me, DH, and DD (2) are going to CBR next week for 10 days! :cool1:
I haven't been in about 5 years, and I didn't have a toddler then either.

I am wondering where the best place to stay is so I can request it. We want to be close to the food court and bus stop, but don't want to pay any extra $$. We just don't want to do a lot of unnecessary walking.

TIA!

We love CBR!! A lot of people like Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 -- they're close to the bridge to Old Port Royale. Have a great trip!!:cool1:

We'll be staying at CBR 12/18-12/21...looking for ideas to have a quick & easy breakfast in our room. Does anyone have any ideas and tips on what you have done?

We brought those little boxes of cereal, some paper bowls, and plastic spoons. We bought a half gallon of milk at the gift shop in OPR. For adults, we often used two boxes of cereal each time. We also brought PopTarts but we didn't use many.

We did granola bars and string cheese, apples, bananas, ordered croissants, muffins, and donuts from Garden Grocer. We try and do a protein if we do sugar, so block cheese, cottage cheese, etc. were had, too.

WE also have packed up disposable bowls, utensils, and cereal and shipped it. Worked very well! Just got some milk from Garden Grocer, too, and called it done!

don't you have to go to the custom house, regardless? For DME? If we have to head that way anyway, there is no benefit to hitting OPR first..
