I got up early to try and sort the scooter out as they were supposed to be delivering it at 7.30am. I had to walk round the block to the lake before I got signal in the phone, and rang the scooter people. I got their answerphone.

I then sent another e-mail to the company saying I couldn’t get hold of them, but gave them the room details and our phone numbers so they could ring me if possible.

Finally, at 8.20am (nearly an hour late) I got a call on the room phone saying they’d arrived and where was I! I said I had been trying to get hold of them for ages. He said he’d be round shortly. I wasn’t happy with the state of the scooter, though – it’s really scratched up (like another company’s cast-offs). Still, it works so I’ll see how it goes.

I put it in the room and put it on charge, just to be sure, and rang Custom House to ask about the shuttle to DCC to collect the car. I was told the next shuttle was at 9.30am! Another 50 minutes away. We got ourselves ready to go out shopping, and walked over to the bus stop the other side of the building) to get the internal bus up to Custom House. We waited ages for one to come along, and by the time we’d stopped all the way round it was already 9.30am. I was worried he’d leave without us, and got Emma to run ahead when we saw the blue Alamo shuttle sitting in the hotel forecourt. We were in luck, though. He was waiting for another family, but they never turned up so we went without them – you can only wait so long.

At Alamo I was offered a Jeep Compass but I stated I’d rather have a Captiva if they had one. As it happens, they did – but it’s actually a fairly basic model with no remote central-locking. It also doesn’t look as if it’s been valeted! Still, as I’m going to be putting a scooter in the back all week, that’s probably just as well. The only advantage of being late to pick the car up meant that I could actually keep it until Monday morning, not having to drop it back until 10am. So, we’ll do that which means we’ll have more flexibility for Sunday – especially with doing 2 parks and a meal.

We set off for Walmart, managed to take the wrong turning and found ourselves at the parking booths at Epcot! The guy on there put us right and we were off again. We found the SR536 very easily (now I know how to get onto it), and the Walmart on the 535 is only a couple of blocks down on the right.

We were unfortunately rushed for our shopping as we were running over an hour late on our morning’s plans, but I spent over $80 on assorted sweets and stuff to bring home! I was very disappointed that they didn’t have any jeans for me, but that particular shop is not a good one. Sadly we didn't have the time to go to the big one on the 192.

We got back, dumped the shopping, loaded the scooter into the back and went off to Hollywood Studios for the afternoon. The scooter proved quite easy to dismantle and took a bit of combined ‘one-two-three – lift’ coordination and it all went into the back nicely with just the left hand rear seat down. It didn’t take too long to get there, and I was directed down to the overflow disabled parking section. It wasn’t far from the park entrance, so that was alright.

We went straight to TSM and got a return time on Emma’s DAS card and then went down to Studio Catering Company to get lunch.

My Buffalo chicken sandwich (without the hot sauce) with fries and a giant Minute Maid Lite Lemonade:

Emma's Chicken Caesar wrap (without the ranch dressing), fries and a giant drink:

Our Valentine's Red Velvet cupcakes. These were indescribably good. 'Gurt Lush', to quote the West Country saying! The upper 'dome' was chocolate whipped buttercream.

After lunch we returned to Toy Story Mania where we went in quite quickly. I got over 104,000 this time – one of my best scores. After coming out, we went up the street so Emma could look at the Disney ‘museum’ again having been rushed through it last time.

The scale model of an attraction in Disneyland Tokyo was astonishing in its detail. Can't remember what it was now, but wow!

After that, we returned to TSM where we joined the FP+ queue. Annoyingly, we got there just after a party of wheelchairs: there were 5 of them ahead of me!!! All oldies, and all able to transfer into the ride vehicle. So why did they only load 2 per vehicle when each one could have taken 4 of them? Totally bonkers! It took 20 minutes before we got back onto the ride. Didn’t do as well this time, either.

After TSM we went round to Star Tours which had a 10-minute wait time! So, we decided to go straight on and save our FP for a little later. The wheelchair entrance is also well themed - it's as if you're going through a spaceship corridors. We got 2 new sections this time. When we came out, we popped over to Backlot Express and got some water to drink before returning to Star Tours to use our FPs. We’ve never come across Backlot Express before – indoors and seemed to have a large menu! Turns out that we’ve always eaten in the Studio Catering Company not this one! When Emma asked for water, they actually handed us a couple of cups which we filled using the filtered water dispenser at the drinks counter.

This time on Star Tours Emma wanted to go through the usual queue, and we met back at the top. We did section A this time, and met a guy deeply in character. When he asked where we were from and we said London, he asked what system that was in! The first bit of the ride was the same but the last bit was totally different – and hilarious.

Then it was down to ToT to use our 3rd FP. Again, there was only a 10-minute queue. Honestly, we’ve hardly needed any of them today it’s been so quiet.

Emma wanted to go and ride The Great Movie Ride before we left the park, so we went back up there. We were put in the very last row, which is awful. You can’t hear the action up the front and the music/sound effects from the previous scenes are too loud and distracting. The whole thing could do with refurbishing.

We left the park and returned to the car.

We then drove to the Grand Floridian for our dinner. We got totally confused with the parking (the guy said yes, the arrows on the road have all been painted going in the wrong direction) and ended up being about 5 minutes late for our booking. However, we didn’t wait too long before being shown our table.

The chef came to see us and walked us round the buffet telling us what was in each dish. Disappointingly, a lot of what we tried wasn’t very nice. The beef and Guinness casserole was delish, though, and I liked the Durban chicken curry albeit it was a bit spicy. Nearly everything else was over-egged, though, and I didn’t really like any of it. The mash tasted overwhelmingly of buttermilk and was too rich. I ended up filling up on the children’s potato nugget things!! The carvery beef tasted just ... wrong!

However, the desserts were really nice, and they had the pomegranate lemonade there, which is lush. I finally tried a cannole (which they’re always raving about on Cake Boss). It was really nice!

The character interaction was great – when they eventually got to our table! As I put on Facebook – the food was ‘meh’, but the company was great! The ugly sisters were really funny. When Drizella came to our table, the first thing she said was, "So ... tell me what you hate about Cinderella." "Erm ... she's really young." was my response.

Loved this one of Anastasia and Emma. She was hilarious. Kept screeching "Drizella!!!" across the restaurant!

'Lady Tremaine' was at least 20 years too young for the part!! I told her she must have had everything done to look that young! "But of course!" she replied.

The obligatory waltz between the two newly-weds:

I was given a birthday cake (which I didn’t eat as they are inedible) and a placemat sized laminated picture with various ‘autographs’ on it.

After dinner we decided to jump on the monorail and go over to MK for a couple of hours! Well, why not! It meant going on my stick and leaving the scooter in the car, but I was pain-free and sure I could manage. I checked that it was okay to leave our car and do that, and they said no problem. We went straight to Philharmagic to get our fix, and from there it was straight onto It’s a Small World – no queuing at all!! After that we decided to go up to Haunted Mansion, which again was a walk-on. After that, we decided we were shattered and returned to the monorail back to Grand Floridian. A few photos were taken.

Unfortunately, while it’s the last stop before MK on the way in, it’s the last stop on the way out. By the time we’d collected the car and gone back to our hotel it was about midnight.

What a great afternoon/evening, though.
