What a day! :teeth:

I needed to run to Costco with my sister today to pick up coffee for DH & a big sack of meatballs. While I was there, I looked for the cardstock that I'd read about on the PA-Scrappers list over on Yahoo. (Thanks, Spinning!)

I picked up a package of 300 sheets of 12x12 cardstock for $12.79. That works out to a little less than 4.5 cents a sheet. There are 20 different colors, including black & white as well as an assortment of pastel & bright colors.

I ran over to Michaels to check out the make-it-and-take-it session. :sad2: What a nightmare! I got there right before they started & they were so disorganized! The girl who was running the station with the embossed frame had no clue what she was doing & bordered on being surly. Not much fun, actually. I did enough of it to get my ticket to enter the drawing & left. (DSis did the mini photo album for the same reason.)

I picked up 2 packs of 8.5x11 cardstock for $1.99 each - one primary colors & one pastels. I figured DD & I could use that for mounting etc. I also need to do a 50th anniversary memory board for next month. I should be well stocked now. ;)

Then we ran to Target. I'd never been there & now I remember why! Parking there is horrendous! :headache: I finally found a spot the 2nd time we went (I tried before Mike's) and only had a couple people swear at me and wave at me with selected fingers. I lost count of the people who raced their engines & looked like they wanted to ram my car....I was sitting at the end of an aisle waiting for 2 elderly ladies to get out of the handicapped spot so I could park.

After locating the Dollar Spot, I picked up vellum envelopes, Belle stickers, a box of charms, gel pens, foam squares, vellum sayings & a sheet of International flag stickers.

We were hoping to get to Big Lots & Tuesday Morning also, but had to put that off for a couple weeks as I had to get the car home.

I also found out that our phone books are wrong! I've been reading about all the great finds you've been making at Dollar Tree, but thought we only had Dollar Express stores around here. Guess what....every one I passed today was a Dollar Tree! So that got added to our list of places to check in 2 weeks.

So I had a good day....how about you? :cool1:

DEB!
You NEED an INTERVENTION! :earseek:

No more shopping until I come into town to go with
you! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I had no idea Costco sold scrapbook paper! Now I've gotta add that to my list! He he...

I went by Michael's today too. It looked kinda busy, and I didn't have the time to stay and to a project. I did get a few pages of paper for 29 cents (M & M's, Scrabble, etc.), and bought a refill for the little 150 X Xyron for 40% off, found eyelets on clearance for $1, and also Shrinky Dinks for $1 on clearance (another lady talked me into those :rolleyes1 ). I also bought the $1.99 pkg. of cardstock in pastels.

Went by Target today too! I found a template for my tags at the Dollar Spot, foam squares, the tiny clothespins & line, and sparkling stones. I agree, Target's parking lot always seems to be a madhouse!!! (Getting into the Dollar Spot is worth it though ;) ).

I forgot to go back by Tuesday Morning. We just ran out of time and had to get back home. I wanted to get that Crop and Carry bag I saw last week, but it's probably gone by now anyway...

Glad you got to get out today piratesmate and enjoy some Saturday shopping!

TinkerKat - I'd love to go shopping with you! :teeth: Do me a favor, though? Don't come to town until it gets really warm. Okay? I need to stop shopping for a couple months. ;) I feel like I have a nice variety of stuff to use on my pages so that I won't need to keep running out to get stuff.

sweet maxine - I was surprised at what all they had at Costco. It was all back with the printer cartriges & printer paper, etc.... I only knew about the paper. They had some neat sets of stamps, decorative edge scissors, etc. I really only needed the card stock, though, so I was good in there.

I wasn't all that impressed with Target to be honest. I'm all for getting things cheap, but that parking lot is a big deterrant to me. Maybe if I tried on a weekday morning it wouldn't be too bad. Of course, I'm at a point now where I don't need too much - except cutting tools.

I haven't thought about Shrinky Dinks in years! I used to do things with them back when I was first married - 30 yrs ago in May! I think you'll like them. I'm going to have to look around to see if I still have any. In the past 5 minutes, since I read your post, I've thought of a bunch of different ways to use them on my pages! But I'm not going to buy any. Now that my supplies are pretty well set, there'll be no more buying except to replace stuff for several months. (Unless there's a mega-sale I can't resist! ;))

I promised to go shopping with my DSis in a couple weeks, but I'm planning to mostly just scope out what those places have. I certainly don't need anything else! ;)

Well, I wouldn't have even THOUGHT about Shrinky Dinks, but as I said, someone else was scouting out the clearance aisle while I was looking there. When she saw the Shrinky Dinks she yelled, "Omigosh, Shrinky Dinks! I've been looking for those everywhere!". So of course being the person of sound mind that I am, I had to buy a pkg. myself, if for nothing else just for posterity's sake..... I did get her to clue me in as to why we would be buying Shrinky Dinks today, and she says they're really neat to use on a scrap page. See there, I knew there had to be a sufficient reason to make that purchase!

Anyway, if I don't end up using the Shrinky Dinks, you're welcome to them. I'll just probably sleep better tonight knowing that I have a package safely in my possession.......

I don't scrapbook ( gasp! I know - heathen! ) but I used the shrinky dinks in a cool way. I was in a play every year and made favors with them. I traced a heart pattern, then cut it out and punched a hole at the top. Then each year I took a Sharpie and wrote personalized messages around the edges for each person ( quotes from the show, rehearsal mistakes etc ). For the center it changed each year. For Sound of Music, I used a thinned purple sparkle paint to fill in mountains I had drawn, then used white "snow" paint at the tops. They looked really cool once they baked, but you have to be careful to not put the paints on too thick. Oh - then ribbon through the hole to make an ornament or a rearview mirror dangle.

I purchased the Cardstock from Costco and it is very nice cardstock. I love the wide range of colors. And you can't beat $12.97 for 300 sheets.
