Card Candy Swap~COMPLETE

Thank you. I actually looked in the mailbox to see if they happened to leave the photo card in there. Wishful thinking. My husband says that I always think the best of people, even when they don't deserve it. I guess looking in the mailbox, hoping the photo card was there is a perfect example.

I lost a photo card at CVS once. It had photos from our first Disney trip on it (I had backed them up, but still, I didn't want my pictures of my kid out there), I *know* the woman next to me had taken it, and I was sooooo mad, but I couldn't do anything about it! I'm sorry you lost the pictures!

Oh, that is my worst nightmare (well, after the kids and DH getting stolen;) ) Did anyone else at camp have a camera who might have pics at least of the climb site which you could use?

People are so mean - they could have taken the card out!

I don't think anyone else took photos. There were no other parents there. My DH went just because DD was having separation anxiety and he was curious about the rock climbing place. We'll have to go back and do the rock climbing together and get lots of photos.

Ok, now I'm worried. Mine don't look like the posted photos. I didn't mail yet as I'm having trouble getting out of work to do it. Maybe I'll make some revisions tonight? The thing is that I have no stamps for stamping cards. Was this what it was supposed to be? I'm such a dork....what do I do? Mine are just embellished cut-outs. This is what I've worried about with doing swaps! Someone tell me what I should do. I don't want to disappoint anyone.

Please do not worry about it. I'm sure they are fine. Embellished cut outs work just as well as stamped images!

Cheryl's arrived today! They look even better in person! Thank you for the pretty papers!

I'm having a hard time with my masculine card candy. I suck at masculine stuff. I can make anything pink and frilly, but boy stuff, meh, not my strong suit. I'll figure it out...

Tynikate - this is my "formal" opinion on swaps...I like to do swaps to see what everyone else is doing. I love to see the color combinations other people are using because it helps to inspire me when I am having a brain cramp. And...oftentimes - what someone else has to offer in a swap is just the perfect thing that I need "at that moment".

So - stop worrying!

Tyniknate - Please don't worry. This is my very first swap too and out of the 9 pieces that I made, only one was stamped. Some of mine are little matted wordles (done on the computer) with a few embellishments. Others are paper piecings of Pooh and Cinderella related icons that I made with my Cricut.

I was really excited to get into the swaps, because other people come up with ideas that I would never think of. So, I figured, that it would bring me some inspiration and liven up my scrapbooks a little more.

:flower3:

Meg's arrived today! They look fabulous! Great work Meg!

Finished my Christmas group. I took pix with and without the flash. The embossing looks better without the flash, but the stamped items look better with it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I will be mailing in the morning and hoping no one is disappointed. I guess I just didn't understand the whole "card candy" thing. I don't make cards but I thought the pieces would be ok for a scrapbook page. Now that I'll have examples to go from I'll be able to do better next time (if I have the courage to try card candy again).

Tynikate - I am going to tell you something about one of my first swaps...SHHHH...don't tell anyone;) I did a swap on the dis maybe 3 or 4 years ago, on tags. I researched tags ad-nauseum for a couple of days before I committed. I picked one of the "holiday" categories. So - I decided to do a July 4th holiday.

After the swap was completed...and we received our swaps back, it was very clear that the HOLIDAY meant "winter/Christmas" - not just pick a holiday, any holiday. I felt SO stupid... but it was what it was. Once I explained my misunderstanding...everyone was just fine with it!

Hi again:flower3:,

I only do cards at Christmas time and I think I blew the whole candy "CARD" thing too. I was also thinking scrapbook pages. But I think my pieces will work for either cards or scrapbooking. I was going off of the Mickey example on Jennifer's first post. The "Thinking of You" and "Happy Birthday" stamped pieces didn't even register with me.

Well, my other 2 swaps are scrapbook pages and elements, so their won't be any mistaking them.

Oh well, everyone has to be a newbie at some point......

Don't worry about not having "words" - I've got words I can stamp if I want to, I like having the pretties to save me making them:rotfl: And wordless candy is perfect for "blank for your special message" cards. And if stuff can go in a scrapbooks as well, so much the better!:thumbsup2

Thanks, MazdaUK. I was hoping people would feel that way. I can't wait to see what everyone's pieces look like!

My friend, Valerie, who is also in this swap uses her "Candy" pieces as scrapbook page embellishments. Everything has been wonderful, there is no right and no wrong, it's all good ;)

My pieces, as you will see, are basically cricut cuts with little embellishments. Not exactly the work it seems everyone else did. I'm very sorry for the confusion. I've stressed and stressed over these and I just can't stress any more. I mailed yesterday afternoon because I went back and forth about changing all of them. I didn't want to send something that was wrong and I just couldn't force myself to send them. I then decided it was silly to start all over. We all (at least I think we all) scrap and can use them, even if not in the way they were intended. I promise I'll do better next time. You should probably have them by Tuesday at the latest. :goodvibes
