Caracter reception

We are probably going to end up having our wedding offsite, but I was wondering if anyone has done a Character dining reception. I know there is dining in Cinderella's palace, though I guess I can't wear my gown there. There is also at 1900 Park Fare. Has anyone eaten at either of these places. This will actually be my first Disney experience. Are these places to overcrowed for such an event. I will be having around 30 guests.

We're pretty sure on doing 1900 Park Fare for our reception. It is character and buffet, so it kind of keeps the price fixed. We're having 20 people total. However it is going to be closed from July to the beginning of October for renovations.

We are thinking about doing the same thing. We do not want to pay over a $1000 for two characters to come to our intimate reception. There is only going to be DF, DD and myself, and having the character meals means that we would have to give up the Magic Kindgom photo shoot.

No, we can't wear our dresses in the parks. So, our character meals are limited to resorts. We are thinking about either 1900 Park Faire or Chef Mickeys. We are very fun loving and I think we would like either. However, my main concern is not getting my dress ruined at one of the meals. DF and I are discussing him going to the buffets and bringing the plates back to the table, and me just staying at the table.

I would vote for Chef Mickey's. Didnt like 1900 Park Fare very well. There are alot! Of kids so becareful. Should be lots of fun though.

That is my main concern, an excited child (or adult) stomping on my dress LOL. So, I am going to make DF do all of the running for me LOL. It will only be him, me and our daughter, so there is no need for a big shindig!

I called GF about booking 30 or so guests for the character dinner and they said no problem. I also called the bakery in the GF and they would make a cake and deliver it on the night of the gathering. Thought that would add a nice touch.
Where are you planning for off-site?? We are only renewing our vows and the $$$ keeps adding up so I am questioning how much I really want it. I do really want it...but... Anyone every heard of doing a quicky renewal in their room, hitting the parks and dinner celebration??
I want to pay for studio's at BWV for two nights for guests and park passes, so that $$$ would go a long way.

If I am not mistaken, Disney is pretty picky about weddings and VR's being performed on site. I believe it has to be through DFTW or it is forbidden on property (any part). You may want to check before deciding, You would hate to do a quickie VR in your room and not go through them and something happen. Though if it is okay, it sounds like a great idea to save money!

I'm still getting quotes for offsite places, but I am getting a lot of help from these two places:

They are sending me quotes and the prices are definatley better than WDW, but I have to worry about everyone getting to the place and back. I am trying to stick to a tight budget because I have a 3 year old and 3 month old. If anyone has any ideas or experience with offsite places please let me know where you went and how it was. I am leaning towards Cypress Grove or the Portofino resort.

Thanks for the info...We have 3 yrs left to plan for the 20th...just trying to gather information. Maybe if I get crazy about the $$$, we can renew vows at home then all fly down together to celebrate.
I'll have to call MS and do some more investigating. I was told you can pencil in the date at 18 months then send deposit at 12 mths.

We have 2 years until our 15th and we are considering doing the vow renewal at disney, but totally lost on all aspects. I guess I should go the home page and look at the weddings and try to begin getting ideas of prices and such.

we used 1900 park fare for our rehearsal dinnner and has 55 people there - we had a great time. we got lucky and they let us take over the entire back room area...that little alcove thing.

hi there we have booked for 1900 park fare for our reception dinner as the characters will be there and its also a buffet dinner so it suits us down to the ground as we have my sisters children and my daughter so it will be fun for everyone!

we went to chef mickeys after our wedding, we were towards the back by the big windows so were out of the way of all the kids running around, i got my DH to get me food cos i was worried i'd spill something down my dress. worked out great
