Car service to the airport...??

My MIL in insisting that it would be cheaper to rent a limo or some type of car service to pick us up at home and drive us to the airport! We live in NY (near Saratoga Springs, (if anyone is familiar) and flying out of LaGuardia Airport, about a 3.5 hour drive. It will cost us about $200 to park our van for the week and probably about $100 in gas(there and back). Does anyone really do this? My DH says no way are we having a car service but if it is cheaper maybe I can convince him

Is there a specific reason you are flying out of LaGuardia, as opposed to Albany, Newburgh, White Plains, or even Hartford, CT, all which offer service to Orlando, assuming that is where you are flying to, you don't indicate that in your post.

Why not just let your MIL pick up the phone and get some rates? She's not going to believe anything you find on the web.

You're going to have to pay for the time it takes the driver to go back to Saratoga and then drive from Staratoga to LGA to pick you up. That's 7 hours each way or 14 hours for both legs. I'm using your numbers. Your driving times are a little low, when you include traffic. Figure an absolute minimum price of $50/hour + 20% gratuity + extra fees and you're looking at $850-$1000. I suspect even the $1000 figure low. A lot of miles on the vehicle.

You could call just to make sure, but I doubt it.

We live about 30 minutes or so from LGA and private drivers to and from the airport are about $300 for us! Actually I just priced a random one and they wanted 190 each way for a family of 4!

We always find it cheaper to just drive and park at the airports and we are much, much closer than you!
