Hi

im struggling to find a taxi company that has two car seats from when we go from carribean beach resort to discovery cove and sea world with our 13 month old girls

is mears any good, it says you can request two in the comments

or is there any other company you would recommend that will have two, rather pay in advance to if that’s possible

Another option is take their car seats with you. If they're marked correctly, you can even use them on the plane (which then gets you priority boarding). Get some car seat bags to keep them in when they're not in use.

we are using the cares harness for the flight as it’s just too much for the two of us to carry two car seats on top of everything else

do you know or does anyone else recommend any companies that would supply two

You can check with some of the private car company's mentioned on this board.

I like Tony Hinds

Happy Limo is a sponsor here I think. Tiffany Towncar is frequently mentioned also.

Mears is the company which ran Magic Express. They are the company which is now running service between the airports and the Disney hotels (not free). They have had taxi service in the Disney area for years. I have not used them for a private car, but it's not like they are a company which nobody has ever heard of.

I saw 2 foldable car seats but they are too expensive. If you fly often, it might be something to invest in. Pico (reviews suggest not comfortable for long trips) and Doona; the other one was Maxi Cosi Nomad but I can’t find it here in the US.

Make sure your airline accepts the Cares harness. Some airlines have banned them.

Can you provide information on this as you have posted this in a few threads I participate in?
CARES harness is FAA approved so I would like to know which airlines have banned them and why.
Flying with Children (faa.gov)
TIA

It’s for use on Domestic flights only and can’t be used in certain seats as their description states. Spirit and American are ok. I read about United causing issues:

I don’t have any experience with united, but we’ve used CARES on southwest and frontier with no issues.

Ok thanks - to me there is a big difference between a few old amazon reviews and the harness being banned!

Especially since United airlines website says the CARES is approved. Traveling with children (united.com)
For domestic flights I'm sure it's just like many other things, you can get a rogue FA who decides to come up with their own rules. You're at their mercy on the plane so it's there way or don't fly. Doesn't mean they are correct though. And impossible to predict. Showing them the rules will be pointless too.

Could you use one of those things that turn the car seat in to a stroller. No idea if they are generic or brand specific. Just seen them in the airport

Called mears and they said just put in the notes that you need two car seats and they will come with them

think I’ll just go for that. Just hope they don’t not turn up with them and it causes delay on very expensive trips

Those are the Doona car seats that become strollers; they’re in the $500+ range

Somewhere I read that some airlines banned it, but maybe that was just one uninformed air hostess that said that and it wasn’t an actual rule. There is ongoing litigation against United for denying its use.

We are flying with spirit and they do allow it, but the tray table behind has a small cup holder in addition to a small tray which would probably be hindered. I decided against it and was looking at foldable lightweight car seats but those are super expensive.

With both kids in the stroller, the 3 of us (parents+teen) barely have enough hands to pull the luggage and carry ons, diaper bag purse. I don’t think we can add to that. It would be great if airlines offered something for an up charge.

Google says CARES isn't compatible with some premium seats, including some lie flat seats.

All airlines have restrictions as to where a CSR or CARES can be used, it was the banning that I was skeptical about.

If you are using either it is a good idea to check with the actual airline in advance to avoid having to move last minute.

The CARES harness isn’t appropriate for 13 month olds. It doesn’t reposition the lap belt for kids that small and they will just slip right out. They really need their car seats for the plane and any other car/van transportation (Cosco Scenera Nexts are great lightweight, inexpensive options for travel seats that fit under-2 kids well. They’re also easy enough to bungee to an umbrella stroller and have the child ride in.). It’s a pain, yes, but the only safe way for them to travel (trust me, we’ve dragged 2 car seats, stroller, carryons, etc, through the airport on more than one occasion). This article has great advice for airplane travel with kids.

with using cares harness make sure you have a copy of their birth certifs in case they get out of harness and you need to lap for landing or take off
