I am looking for a convertible car seat. I am looking at Britax, I have heard great reviews but I thought I remembered reading awhile ago that Britax made a seat padded and labeled with a different name brand. Does anyone remember this? I can't find the link or get the search to work.

Can you use this one forward facing in the 5 pt to 55 pounds?

Thanks.. I am leaning towards the apex which goes 5pt till 65 pounds than to a booster to 100

Lisa, how old is your child? You know the Apex is forward facing only right? Not the best choice if you have a child under 3 unless they're over 30-35lbs.

But if you have an older/heavier child an Apex would be a good choice, it certainly can last you a long time harnessed. 2 things to know, though...you must have adjustable headrests on the seat where it will be installed, and also, you can get the Biltmore edition (same seat, slightly different cover) for $79. plus $5.95 (or something close to that) shipping.

My daughter is almost 4 months old but she is long! Do you think it would be comfortable for child this young? I was comparing this one (I guess it is similar to the Marathon by Britax) to the Boulevard which says it has an "infant headrest" in the Boulevard where the Marathon does not. Has anyone used the FP or Marathon on a child under one?

They are 2 and 3 but are both between 38-40 pounds and are 38 and 40 inches.

Thanks for letting me know about the Biltmore.. I am going to go look at that one.

I have this seat for my son. We started using at 5 months, when he outgrew the infant seat. I waited about 2 weeks longer than I would have liked to switch seats, until he could hold up his head a bit better.

I love this seat. It's really easy to install, very easy to adjust the straps, and he seems like he's pretty comfy in it. I specifically wanted to make sure it had a higher weight limit than most (my son is a small tank :) 7 months, 23 lbs), and I can't afford a Britax.

As far as the headrest, it has a pad that goes behind his head, and goes out to the side, so there's more padding there. It does not have one of the things that goes around their heads though. Personally, I wasn't really worried about it once he held his head up pretty well. He still flops to the side when he's asleep, but he would even if the big pad was there.

Hope that helps!

Another option would be the Evenflo Triumph Advance. It has an infinitely adjustable harness, is a nice tall seat, goes to 35lbs rear-facing and 50lbs forward facing and is a very, very comfy seat...great for little ones and toddlers alike! It runs $129-149 and is sold at most of the Big Box stores and at BRU.
