Car seats in Cozumel taxis???

Hi all!

Does anyone know if the taxi drivers in Cozumel have car seats available? Our regular car seat is very bulky and heavy, so lugging it around is not an option.

I'm planning on buying a Cosco portable car seat if the answer to the above question is no...anyone have experience with this product?

You can ask Coz_Minigolf_Sally. She lives there. But, I'm 99.99% sure it's no. Even taxis here in the states don't carry carseats, and our laws on it are much stricter than Mexico...

Mfan is correct. There are no car seats in Cozumel taxis.

The cab drivers in Cozumel drive very fast! I was a wreck by the time we stopped. Make sure you buckle your little one in.

After seeing the way taxi drivers drive in islands I would not get into the cab myself let alone with my kids. They are wild and just want to get you to your stop so they can pick up another fare. We came about 20 feet within a bus crash in freeport with our taxi driver who was passing cars like crazy. He said look for me when you are ready to return to the ship. No way did I get back in with him!

Most cars and taxi's don't even have seat belts in back seats. Don't even bother lugging the carseat.

We tell the driver there is an extra $10 if he slows down.
Worked in the Bahamas and in Cozumel!

In our taxi in cozumel there were no seat belts, the driver was going almost seventy on a tiny side street. I would walk until my feet bled before I would ride in one of those taxis again!

Oh my word....I am so glad I asked this question!!!

I had NO idea that the taxis in Cozumel were actually E ticket attractions.

That changes everything. There is NO WAY I'm going to put my son in a car that does not accomodate a car seat.

How do the Disney excursions that use taxi transportation (ie. to Chakanaab) work around this? Do they just not transport kids who need to be in car seats?

I have a 4 year old that is only 34 pounds and I would NEVER allow her in the back of a taxi without a carseat. In fact, I delayed a vacation trip to NYC because I didn't want to lug around a carseat while we visited the tourist sites.

Speedometers in Cozumel taxis will be in kilometers. 70 kilometers is about 43 miles. While taxi drivers do tend to drive fast, you can always ask (then demand) that they slow down.
