Car seat situation for triplets

We were wondering any way to get out of bringing car seats? The girls will be 2 1/2 and does any transportation provide car seats from airport? We are staying on property so we only need it from airport to and from.

If you are renting a car some places do rent car seats, although I have not heard the best reviews of them. Why not use DME? It will take you to and from the airport and they will get your luggage for you. I'm sure that would be much easier with triplets! You won't be able to use carseats on DME or on any of the Disney transportation at the parks, so you wouldn't need to bring their car seats. If you are renting a car for other reasons, then you will need to check with the car rental office to find out for sure. Good luck!

Disney's Magical Express.

It is a new service as of May that when you book your vacation (doesn't have to be booked directly with Disney you can use AAA or another TA if you want) you give DME your flight information. They will send you special luggage tags to place on your checked luggage. When you get to the airport in Orlando, DME workers will get any luggage that has the special tags on it and it will be taken to your resort. Your resort will then deliver it to your room. When you land, you simply follow the directions given by the DME workers in the blue jackets with mickey hands and get on the bus that takes you to your resort.

When you leave Disney you simply get on the bus back to the airport. Depending on which airline you are using, you may have to have your luggage with you for the return trip.

To add to the above ....

Disney's Magical Express (DME) uses plushly upholstered motor coaches (buses) to get you from the airport to your resort FOR FREE. There will be people from up to three other resorts sharing the ride with you. The added bonus is that after you check your luggage at your home airport, you won't see it again until it "magically appears" in your resort room. That sounds awfully convenient with triplets!

From your post, it seems as though the only rides you'll need to arrange are round-trip airport transfers. Since DME is available and FREE, you should definitely use it.

You can't use child safety seats on any buses, so from a safety angle taking DME won't be any different from what you will be doing all week anyway, taking buses (Disney Transport) to and from your resort and the theme parks).

You will also get a free ride back to the airport at the end of your stay. Customers with a select few airlines get to check in their luggage actually at their resort lobby and then it "magically appears" back at their home airport at baggage claim (they also get to get their boarding passes at the resort, which saves having to check in at the airport). Everyone else will have the bus driver stow the luggage underneath the bus for the ride back to the airport.

Free is nice, and the luggage handling is convenient.

We use Tiffany Town Car (we fly Southwest and they are not part of DME yet). For about $110 round trip, they will send a van and they have car seats if you request them. We usually call to confirm a couple of days and again the day before we get there to make sure they will have the car seat with them. Using a car service is an added expense, but we feel it is worth it. You get private service and you only go straight to your resort with a 1/2 grocery stop if you wish. And you don't need your car seats (one less thing to lug around with you).

Just an FYI, you can still use DME, but would need to bring your luggage to the coach, instead of it going directly to your room. So you could still use the service, and there is no more effort since you'd need to do the same using a TC service too. I don't know if you knew this, but wanted to clarify so that the OP would know it is an option regardless of the airline flown.

Actually, DME will pick up the luggage from MCO and take it to the resort for you even if you fly a non participating airline. The only time you have to take your luggage to the bus is on the trip from the resort to MCO. We are flying Southwest next month and should have our DME luggage tags any day now!

Sorry my post brought us off-topic!! welovedis and adisneymama, thanks for the DME info!!

...we like having DD in a car seat from the airport to resort because it is a fairly long ride...not sure how you feel. I am fairly certain that DME doesn't have car seats, but you may have enough people traveling with you to help you hold your children on their laps. Whatever you choose, have a great trip!!

Not to hijack this thread.. (started reading because I am not sure about using my daughters carseat on the plane (she will be days shy of 3) and not needing it at all later) BUT>>> How can I find out if my airline is one of the 'participating' ones that does the return service (would be so nice not to have to check our own luggage). We are flying Spirit. Thanks for any info

We liked having the car seats on the plane for our twins because it became just like a long car ride - they knew they had to chill out and they wound up falling asleep. Will your triplets be ancy if they aren't in car seats? No question, though, they're a pain to lug around, especially three of them. We always got a rental car, too, though, so it made sense for us to have our own seats. Good luck and God bless is all I can say!! :wizard: :hyper:
