Hi, we are going to be in Jacksonville then driving to Orlando. We have a rental and thinking of dropping it off at the Dolphin, and our hotel is at the Beach Club. Thinking of dropping off bags first at BC, then driving over to the Dolphin and walking back. I have to change our rental reservations and see the Dolphin is a choice for Alamo. Anyone dropped off a rental one way recently at Dolphin and did it go smoothly?

Dropping off at Dolphin is easy, but you have to do it during their hours of operation. I believe those hours are 8:00 to 4:00.

Alamo at the Walt Disney Dolphin is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but you can return your car outside of those hours too.

At the Dolphin, you return your car at valet parking, regardless of whether the Alamo/National counter is open or closed. The valet parking attendant fills out a form noting the mileage and fuel level. Make sure the attendant understands that you are returning the car, not just having it parked.

If you return after hours, the Alamo/National staff will close out your bill and email a receipt to you when the counter reopens.

Depending on when you rented the car, you might pay for an extra day. For example, if you rented the car at another location at 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday, and you return it at the Dolphin at 5:00 p.m. on a Tuesday a week later, your car will be checked in at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, so you'll pay for 8 days, not 7 days.

This return process is not unique to the Dolphin. The usual practice for after-hours returns, regardless of the car rental company and location, is that the rental is closed out when the office reopens. The only difference is that at most locations you park your car and put the keys in a slot rather than going to valet parking.

That will be different dropping it off with the valet. I guess they are used to it though, as long as I am clear it is an Alamo rental return I'm guessing I should not have an issue.

Alamo at the Dolphin is my favorite counter!!! Drop off is easy...you always drop off with valet, no matter what the time is. I just pull up, hop out, tell them 'returning my rental', they get the appropriate form and fill it out and off I go...takes about 5 mins!!!

Thank you for this thread. In all our many trips we never rent a car but occasionally talk of renting for a day or two when not with DD/DSIL (who do rent a car) for Outlet Mall, Celebration (love Columbia House) and maybe even Sea World.

I always wondered about the Dolphin connection and it so good to know that it not only can be done but it's done easily.

Thanks so much for discussing.

Great! I'm glad it works. We figure we aren't going to use our rental past a certain day in our trip, and I called and got set up for Magical Express back to the airport from the BC.

We've dropped off our car at Dolphin many times and even though it was late in the evening we were never charged extra when they did the paperwork the next morning.

The easiest thing I have ever done. We always drop there. Last year I walked also back to BC. Or we take mK bus. Valet comes out and checks gas level. Gives slip. I usually give a small tip.

Sorry to necropost. Does anyone know if rental car return is available at Dolphin again or, if not, when is it expected to be available?
