If you reserve a car at 9:30 for x price, then show up at 10, will they change the price agreed upon? Specifically thinking about Hertz at LAX, going through Expedia.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

Yes the rental agency reserves the right to cancel your reservation and perhaps rent you a car at a higher rate.

Whether the agency does this depends on the demand for cars, for example if it is Daytona Week, then central and northern Florida agencies are apt to cancel you.

But if there is a blank in the reservation to fill in your flight number and the flight arrives late, you have a case for having the agency honor the reservation. After all, what good is that blank otherwise? You might have to call the nationwide headquarters of the agency on the spot for help in this regard and they may act as a go between with the agency in whose office you are still standing.

If you have flight numbers in your reservation there shouldn't be a problem. If you know you aren't going to pick it up until 10 why not change the reservation?

Also be aware that the rental is for 24 hours. Be sure you don't return it late. Also check the contract that they have the correct pick up time so you get your full 24 hours.

Oh we know the 24 hour thing. :) It's a 3 day, something like 8 hour reservation, which means we're paying 4 days.

$10 total price difference between picking up at 9:30 vs picking up at 10. $10 *lower* picking up earlier (with same drop off time). Hence the interest...wouldn't even have noticed but hubby didn't fill in times (let the default times get used) and got this great deal, then we took it out to the proper time we'd drop it off and the deal stayed...then tried 10am and the price jumped.

We've been stuck on this dilemma for something like 2 hours now...why I haven't just pricelined it during that time I don't know!

Really==a half hour would mean they could cancel you? What if I got stuck at the gate for some reason? Or getting luggage? I could see a reasonable window--an hour or two--but half an hour seems punitive.

Hi! I'm excited for you guys-=-I wish I could plan to see you while you are here. This is my last "free" weekend before the girls' October DL trip and then the following week I go to WDW!!!!!! Plus I need to do my taxes! Yikes!

Anyway, I hope you guys have a GREAT time staying at GCH!

On another note--does anyone know the street address of the Disney Car Care Center? Can you Priceline or Hotwire a rental from there? All I get is the airport locations.

Thanks!

Oh darn, I wanted to see you.

I hope you have fun doing all the other trips, though! WDW again!

Still haven't decided on this expedia thing....:upsidedow

Toocherie- If you go to alamo- click on hot deals- scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Orlando- it will show you the names, addresses, phone #s, hours etc of the rental sites- including Disney Car Care Center, Dolphin (or swan?) etc.

HTH!

Well, while I was trying to figure out if we could bring ourselves to lie to Expedia (our flight lands at 9:40) by reserving for 9:30 and planning to be late, all the prices changed. :)

I had the extreme fun of trying through hotwire (using the correct time) and each time I clicked, it would take me back "we're sorry, the price has changed from 17 to 42" and so on..

So forget it! We're taking Grayline Disneyland Express. No store stop, but we don't have to haul the carseat either. Decision made. And I can buy the roundtrip vouchers while on the coach and get a nice discount (especially with the anaheimOC organization coupon) :goodvibes

Thanks for the thoughts, to those who replied!

Cheryl, if you happen to find yourself walking through the Grand Cal lobby, you know my number. :)

Taking the Disneyland Express is the way to go. We used to rent a car but found the bus was the way to go.

Yeah, it'll be good. I had some ridiculous issues in my silly brain...not wanting to pull up to the GCH in a bus...but I'm over them.

I'm just hoping we get a bus with the actual "wrap" on it...the times we've been on it (one roundtrip as a family, and I took it alone back to the airport on a solo trip) it's just been a plain white bus (but definitely the right bus), and I really want to see that fun Disneyland wrap! :)
