We're going in late July. We book our vacation far out. I've always managed to get a rental car from Alamo for about $315 for 12 days.... but I've been trying for a few days and both the web sites and the 800 number are really expensive!!!!

I tried EXPEDIA and can reserve THRIFTY for $315. I figure I'd do it as a safety and wait for Alamo to come down.

Has any one used Thrifty.... just in case I have to????
Please if I reserve using a credit car they don't bill until I pick up the car?????? Am I right???

Thanks
chris

Try L&M car ental. It is on site in the Orlando airport...Very reasonable. I usually save about 50 bucks by going with them. I booked a toyota camry for March 13-19 for 169.00. Granted I booked very early, however, I have always had good luck with this agency.

You are correct about the charging, they don't charge until the car is returned, however, they put a hold on the account. We always pay cash upon vehicle return.

Are you going anywhere besides Disney? If not, have you considered having a Van or Towncar take you to Disney and back? For a family of 5 you can get round trip for around $100. And they'll stop at a grocery store for you on the way.

We always do this and let Disney Transportation handle the driving. Of course if you're going off property (or staying off property) this advise is useless :D

Rates usually come down closer to the date if it's not a peak season. Example - I first booked a car for early May of this year in February, it was $198 for National EA, intermediate. By mid April, it was $119, which is what I finally paid (incl tax). Check mousesavers for various discount codes & coupons to try.

We used Thrifty several times because they were cheaper. Always a long line and a hassle with price quotes. Last time they gave us a Daewoo that shimmied if you went over 50 mph and the windshield wipers didn't work. Then on a drive up to St. Augustine, we blew a tire. Went to the Thrifty in St. Augustine and traded vehicles.

We will not use Thrifty again. The extra cost of renting from a car rental company located at the airport will more than make up for having to take a shuttle to and from the rental company and the hassle factor with the employees there.

I should say I will never use Thrifty in Orlando again. I've not had problems with Thrifty in other locations. Just Orlando. And everytime in Orlando.
