Car rentals in Sept.??? Need tips!!

We are planning on renting a car for 2 weeks in Sept.. I just checked out the prices and they are outrageous!!! We paid half of what they are offering for the same amount of time last year. Any ideas as to why they are so expensive? Any tips on how to get a cheaper rate??

It's probably a little early to get a good rate. I'm looking for mid-June rates and noticed that most of the promo rates only go through the end of May. I expect that new rates will be out in early June. In your case, you may have to wait a couple of times.
